Our Federal Government client requires the expertise of an experienced Enterprise Monitoring Solutions Consultant (Infrastructure Monitoring Analyst) to help implement and/or maintain the IT Enterprise Monitoring strategy and to help advance the Enterprise Monitoring Solutions adopted by the service.
The Consultant will also be responsible for documenting all work that is accomplished along with providing the required knowledge to newly appointed full-time employees surrounding the Enterprise Monitoring Solutions.
List of tasks and deliverables will include:
Executing activities that are related to the IT Enterprise Monitoring Strategy
Executing activities related to maintaining and deploying monitors based on monitoring systems
Providing support for all Enterprise suite of technologies (as required) including resolving issues, and providing any development, customization, and implementation services related to these technologies
Troubleshooting monitoring agents on nodes within the organization
Providing any required mentoring, guidance, and assistance to other project team members or resources involved with the Monitoring suite of technologies
Importing and installing MIBS for the purpose of monitoring network infrastructure hardware
Verifying connectivity of these devices primarily through SNMP
Developing documentation (directly or with assistance from other team members) related to all deliverables generated as a result of either project execution or as part of the support provided for the monitoring suite of technologies
Providing knowledge transfer to full-time employee(s) with respect to everything that has been accomplished with each technology, for them to be able to provide enhancement
Request For Proposal (RFP) Enterprise Monitoring Solutions modification and administration services surrounding these technologies, and for them to eventually attain operational autonomy with respect to these technologies
Developing and providing cross-training to staff (directly or with assistance from other team members) on the use of the various Enterprise suite of technologies for ongoing operations and support
Undertaking and performing additional activities as may be required surrounding non-monitoring technologies
Liaising with clients (including management), partners to resolve issues, recommend improvements or next steps.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years combined experience (within the last 5 years) in the configuration, and administration of enterprise monitoring software - includes hardware-level infrastructure monitoring (SNMP), OS and/or application-level monitoring
Experience (within the past 5 years) of working with enterprise monitoring software in regards to server and application-level monitoring - tasks may include configuring, patching, adding new managed nodes, generating and deploying monitors, etc. - project experience with CA IUM an asset
Experience (within the past 5 years) of working with enterprise hardware monitoring software - tasks may include enterprise monitoring software
configuration and patching, adding devices, importing MIBS, receiving SNMP traps, integrating NetFlow data, etc. - project experience with CA Spectrum an asset
Experience (within the past 5 years) of working with enterprise monitoring tool for Baseline trending, creating Dashboard/Reporting, and predictive alerts - project experience including CA IUM and/or Splunk an asset
Experience (within the past 5 years) with the customization of Enterprise Monitoring technologies implemented in a secure environment (i.e., air-gapped networks, crossing network boundaries, etc.)
Scripting or programming experience (within the past 3 years) with Unix Shell, Perl, VB languages, Python or Java
Experience (within the last 4 years) of integrating disparate monitoring
products
Experience (within the past 3 years) with both Windows Server and Linux operating systems - this experience should include installing packages, generating scripts, and reviewing log file/event logs for detailed
analysis
Experience (within the last 5 years) with the configuration, and administration of the following products/technologies:
CA UIM
CA Spectrum
Splunk
Arcsight
Valid Federal Government Top Secret (Level III) clearance OR valid PSEPC/CSE Top Secret (Level III) clearance - latter would be an asset.
