Job description

Location: Remote or Office Based (Sheffield)

Annual Salary: £24,000-£28,000 or dependant upon location

Contract: 12 month fixed term / Permanent depending on contract

Design Development Coordinators are responsible for the design of resources across Production. They work closely with different stakeholders across the business to ensure that resources are:

  • consistent across both the individual product, as well as Production;
  • as accessible and functional as possible for the intended audience;
  • of a high visual quality - utilising the designers skillset;
  • efficiently made, as part of overall production processes.

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

The main responsibilities within the role are:

  • Developing resource templates and CC Libraries (for designers, content writers and illustrators).
  • Developing resource collections.
  • Writing and maintaining written guidance relating to resource design (both specific resources, as well as general brand and design guidelines and general processes).
  • Providing regular brand and design feedback for resources created within each product at both pre-upload and post-upload.
  • Managing the development of designs being created by designers, with a focus on new projects.
  • Developing and/or running training sessions with designers, as well as some other members of the Production team.
  • Developing and/or running design workshops and design sessions/crits.
  • Helping with the training of new designers (either to the business, or to specific products), as well as the continual development of existing designers.
  • Creating and updating any required web assets, such as search prompts and landing page images.
  • And, in general, being available for any design and/or brand questions from any member of the business and being a role model for high-quality and effective design.

In this role, you will learn how to:

  • Create resource templates, and other assets, used across multiple teams
  • Deliver work for a varied user base, including both internal and external users.
  • Both manage and support a project from conception to delivery.
  • Clearly present ideas, ways of working, and processes to stakeholders.
  • Effectively give feedback – to designers, as well as other teams and people across the business.
  • Discover and apply user research effectively.

You’ll work with:

  • Other DDCs within the team
  • The Production Operations team
  • Product Owners and Country Managers
  • Designers within each product
  • Other stakeholders from across the business

Requirements

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Have a good, solid knowledge of the Twinkl Brand, resource guidelines, and the Twinkl Design Principles, and have proven you can apply these to various resource types.
  • Be creative and innovative with a curious, problem-solving attitude, whilst keeping in mind the needs of the customer and wider business.
  • Have excellent knowledge of the software used to create resources, as well as the curiosity and drive to continue learning more.
  • Have a high attention to detail.
  • Be comfortable coordinating your own projects, being able to scope out the required deliverables and work to an agreed timeline.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively to various different people – including other designers, Product Owners, Country Managers, SLT, and customers.
  • Be happy to both give and receive feedback.
  • Be comfortable leading meetings, including workshops and training sessions.
  • Want to delve into the subject of ‘design for education’ and continue learning more about it.
