Department Detail – The Donor Ministries Department at BGEA works to cultivate meaningful, long-term relationships with ministry supporters and to identify, develop, and deepen new relationships with prospective ministry partners. The goal of the department is to grow a strong base of support for decades to come. The department includes a core office staff and a regionally based field team who collectively serve the individuals, families and foundations that support BGEA with their gifts and prayers. Through special events, personal visits, and mailings, the field team shares the work, impact, and needs of the ministry with existing and prospective ministry partners. Included in the department is the Billy Graham Christian Response Center whose staff daily respond to phone calls and email correspondence, providing ministry information and answering spiritual questions with biblical insight and direction. The Prayer Line ministry operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, where spiritually trained representatives and volunteers answer calls for prayer and present the Gospel. TVTM supports phone call responses to Billy Graham Classic TV programs.

Job Summary – The Regional Manager represents Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) in assigned region, appropriately communicating the vision of BGEA while developing and cultivating relationships with donors who have embraced BGEA’s vision for ministry as well as with prospective donors. The Regional Manager will have understanding and skills to assist supporters at all levels of commitment and capacity.

Ministry Requirements

  • Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer
  • Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading, and leading group prayer as schedule permits
  • Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations
  • Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Communicates in a compelling manner a thorough and current knowledge of BGEA—past, present, and future---in appropriate ways and settings
  • Initiates and builds relationships with select ministry partners and prospects through a strategic plan of action for meaningful contact and relationship building
  • Maintains and shepherds a case load of 300 Top current gift ministry partners
  • Intentionally networks with ministry partners, prospects, and acquaintances to engage new ministry partners for BGEA through events, gatherings, and referrals
  • Completes an acceptable level of partner interactions including Visits, Contacts, Touches, Happenings, and Events
  • Possesses firm and growing knowledge and confidence to assist our partners with current gift and deferred gift opportunities to confidently share with ministry partners
  • Delivers prompt follow-up from lead generation efforts and large gifts
  • Reports various areas of performance to the Director, Regional Managers, as required
  • Consistently participates in required Donor Ministries team meetings
  • Relates to and communicates effectively with Donor Ministries team, other Regional Managers, and all BGEA staff

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans for efficient travel and effective ministry to donors in assigned region
  • Attends training/equipping sessions as scheduled by Donor Ministries leadership
  • Attends Festivals and Celebrations as determined by Donor Ministries leadership
  • Advises management team on actual or regulatory changes that would impact giving
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

Skills and Knowledge

  • Bachelor-level degree or equivalent experience required
  • Five to 10 years’ experience in related field is required, with Donor Ministries-related experience preferred
  • Effective personal and telephone communications skills
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Attentive listening skills
  • Experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and implement donor relations management practices
  • Ability to conduct personal meetings with approximately 20-40 people weekly
  • Sensitivity to the various needs of donors of all ages, including the elderly
  • Efficient time management skills in order to effectively represent the ministry in a multi-state regional area

Physical/Mental Demands

  • Ability to travel extensively (50%) during the day and overnight
  • Local travel to visit potential donors at work or at home
  • Home or office contacts required

Working Conditions

  • Work is typically performed in home office and in various geographical areas
  • Travel may be necessary during periods of inclement weather
  • Must reside within the territory
