 Accounting Specialist (Part-Time) Job Description

Position Overview 

An Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of an organization by performing a variety of accounting tasks. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills. FirstClose is hiring a part-time Accounting Specialist to assist the finance team for a period of three months. 

Responsibilities 

  • Assist with customer invoicing using accounting software (Certinia) and transaction database
    • Verify that billing details on existing customer contracts are entered correctly in accounting software and transaction database.
    • Populate "billing" fields in accounting software and transaction database for new customers and contract renewals
    • Review monthly transaction usage file to ensure that it is complete and correct
    • Upload data into accounting software
    • Complete invoicing process in accounting software
    • Prepare monthly report (in Excel) of sales transactions with E&O coverage
  • Assist with employee expense reports
    • Review for completeness and populate GL account & department (in Expensify)
    • Post expense reports in accounting software
  • Assist with general accounting tasks
    • Prepare and post standard journal entries
    • Prepare COGS reports
    • Perform data entry and administrative tasks as needed to support the accounting department.

Required Skills and Experience  

  • 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or billing role
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving issues.

Qualifications 

  • 1-2 years of experience with SalesForce
  • ERP Experience – preferably Certinia (formerly FinancialForce)
  • Experience with Expensify is a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel

Compensation & Benefits 

  • 20-25 hours per week
  • $23 - $28 per hour Depending on Experience
  • No benefits
