We’re looking for a Solutions Architect to support pre-sales and technical account management, working with select partners in Australia and across the APJ region. Reporting to the Director of APJ Sales in Melbourne, this role is key to driving growth for both existing and new products.

Now operating independently under private equity ownership, Software AG has entered a new phase—agile, focused, and unconstrained by its former structure. This position offers the opportunity to work with clients across Asia.

As a trusted advisor, the Solutions Architect partners with sales and channel teams to uncover opportunities, solve customer challenges, and deliver innovative solutions that drive business value.

Essential Functions

  • Facilitate Software AG's business and revenue goals by providing high-quality technical support to the sales team throughout the sales cycle.

  • Support customer qualification and business strategies through technical insights and guidance

  • Collaborate and support sales representatives to develop specific account plans and strategies.

  • Gather and analyze customers’ requirements and recommend the best Software AG solutions.

  • Create and deliver demonstrations, presentations, prototypes, workshops and proof of concept/value (POC/POV) to map Software AG product features to customer needs.

  • Build confidence in proposed solutions and handle objections.

  • Provide technical support to qualified customers conducting assessments. For example: programming, third-party software, troubleshooting, and best-practices consulting.

  • Establish trust and credibility with customers, serving as a technical expert and point of contact.

  • Respond to the technical sections of RFI and RFPs.

  • Gather and relay product feedback from customers.

  • Share competitive intelligence gathered from the field.

  • Exchange best practices and share knowledge within the Solution Architect community.

  • Stay updated on Software AG´s solutions and maintain relevant technical knowledge.

  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and cross-departmental discussions with customers, partners, sales, and R&D teams.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in presales, consulting, or related activities in the IT software industry.

  • Solid understanding of network architecture, business infrastructure, and distributed computing environments.

  • Proficiency in COBOL, Java, or Natural; familiarity with additional languages like Python, .Net, PHP, C/C++, SQL is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with Windows, Linux, Unix, and IBM z/OS (mainframe).

  • Working knowledge of Db2, PostgreSQL, MS-SQL, Adabas, Oracle.

  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation abilities; capable of engaging effectively with diverse customer audiences.

  • Ability to understand client businesses, identify their challenges, and deliver value-driven, tailored solutions.

  • Capable of structuring and solving complex technical and business challenges with a logical, abstract approach.

  • Proactive, self-learning attitude with a commitment to team goals and continuous personal development.

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Nice to Have

  • Basic understanding of cloud computing and DevOps practices/tools.

  • Batch processing, job control language (JCL), and output management.

  • Familiarity with TP monitors and user interfaces like CICS, Com-plete, IMS/DC, TSO, ISPF.

  • Understanding of mainframe database technologies: Db2, Adabas, Datacom, IDMS, IMS, and VSAM.

  • Experience with IDEs such as Eclipse, VSCode, and IBM Developer for z/OS.

  • Knowledge of mainframe security tools (e.g., RACF, Top Secret, ACF2).
