Job description

We are hiring a new Underwriter to help bring a new level of service and reporting capability to our clients. This role will help us set a new standard in terms of client service, plan design analysis, plan financial tracking. The role will work directly with business unit Managing Director, Client Management team, insurance carriers and vendor partners.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop a structured reporting format to review benefit plan performance from a pricing and experience perspective for our large case clients.
    • Analyze experience information provided by insurance carriers and translate into a report for clients on a regular basis (qtly, semi-annually, annually)
    • Set expectations with clients around expected renewal decisions
    • Develop historical comparisons for renewal activity
  • Manage RFPs
    • Work with Producer(s) and Client Managers to design RFPs for group insurance products (non-medical)
    • Products will include LTD, Life, Voluntary Benefits and possibly Multi-life Individual Disability Insurance
    • Interact with carriers to finalize offers
    • Draft proposal documents to share with prospects/clients
  • Build database of benchmarking information for use with current clients and prospects
    • Utilize industry information to customize for use broadly at Risk Strategies
    • Keep updated with annual release of industry information
  • Work with Client Management team to develop and maintain online library of client specific information including contracts, renewals, etc. accessible to clients
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers to help provide top level customer service to our clients
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with various experts within Risk Strategies -find opportunities to provide additional risk management tools to clients

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Expertise in all facets of group insurance risk analysis, pricing formulas and plan designs. Experience in multi-life individual disability plans a plus.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver.
  • Advanced understanding and working experience with Excel. Ability to organize and sort data, run queries and use excel to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Strong technology skills. Ability to work in Microsoft environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Self-starter, motivated to deliver exceptional work product.

At Risk Strategies Company, base pay is one part of our total compensation package, which also includes a comprehensive suite of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off and paid holidays for eligible employees. The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. The expected base pay range for this position is between $84,200 - $150,000 annually. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including geographical location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
