Reading Interventionist

Position Summary:

Certified teachers will “virtually” manage instructional programs through use of the telephone, internet and various curriculum tools. They will consult regularly with general education teachers, special education teachers, learning coaches and students to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program.

The Interventionist will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

  • Screen students to establish proper level using universal screeners
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify students who are in need of special instruction
  • Provide diagnostic, prescriptive, and evaluative services for identified students
  • Provide individual and small group instruction for identified students
  • Assist with the administration of state tests and other required state exams
  • Co-teach with the general education classroom teachers to administer the core curriculum, assist them in the organization of the program, lesson planning, selection of materials, and implementation of teaching techniques to ensure the instructional program relates to the special needs of students;
  • Provide supplemental reading resources and supports for teachers, students and parents
  • Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons that will increase student Work directly with students and caretakers to implement these alternate lessons
  • Communicate with caretakers, students and other teachers on a regular basis to develop an educational plan and update students personal learning goals using various data points
  • Collaborate with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program, that caretakers have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed among the teachers
  • Keep student records and data up-to-date, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance accounting, grading, and logging all student and caretakers contacts
  • Stay current with educational trends and research based interventions so teachers and students are offered a variety of interventions to choose from.
  • Develop and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”
  • Create an atmosphere of sharing and cooperation at meetings with teachers and

Education/Qualifications
  • Minimum Education/Certification
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited institution in related field
    • Appropriately certified in Math appropriate to grade level responsibilities
    • Appropriately certified to teach in Pennsylvania
    • Possesses all PDE required clearances for school-based personnel
    • Reading Specialist Certification (required)
    • Experience Requirements:
      • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Ability to effectively disseminate information, both orally and in writing to all stakeholders
  • Knowledge of web-based applications and data management systems
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in computer applications, specifically Google environments
Essential Functions / Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Must reside in the state of Pennsylvania
  • Ability to pass the background checks required for all school employees in Pennsylvania
  • This position could include limited travel and could include limited overnight travel
