Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g’day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time-consuming and you’re probably keen to find out what’s on offer, so we’ll get straight to the point.

Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia, but with many of our Canvanauts calling the Philippines home, our office in Manila is a buzzing place. This role is encouraged to be on a hybrid setup so we've created an environment that truly empowers you to thrive.

What you’d be doing in this role

You will be supporting data-driven decisions to improve IT operations and beyond. This role requires a strong foundation in data analytics, data engineering, and business expertise to effectively analyse IT data, develop actionable insights, and drive strategic initiatives. You will work closely with IT teams, business stakeholders, and data professionals to uncover insights, optimise processes, and improve operational efficiency at scale. You will also play a key role in data governance, infrastructure optimisation, and workflow automation, ensuring that IT teams can leverage high-quality data to make informed decisions.

While the core focus will be on analytics engineering principles—designing scalable data models, optimising pipelines, and enabling self-serve analytics—this role will also involve driving process improvements, developing key IT metrics, and enhancing IT performance tracking. Additionally, there is an opportunity for this role to evolve into advanced analytics, experimentation, and machine learning, particularly in areas like predictive IT infrastructure management and workflow efficiency modeling.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Data Exploration & Insights: Analyse IT-related data, such as Jira workflows, service desk requests, software utilisation, and system performance, to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Data Modelling & Engineering: Build clean, scalable, and well-structured data models that support reporting and analytics use cases, ensuring high-quality, reliable data for decision-making.
  • Data Visualization & Reporting: Develop engaging dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to IT leaders and other business teams.
  • Automation & Optimisation: Automate data workflows and pipeline processes to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and ensure data consistency.
  • Collaboration & Business Impact: Work closely with IT teams, Data Engineers, and business leaders to translate raw data into strategic insights, driving measurable improvements.
  • GenAI Enablement: Prepare high-quality datasets and semantic layers optimised for integration with GenAI tools to support IT and cross-functional use cases across Canva.

You’re probably a match if:

  • You have a rich and relevant experience in data analytics, analytics engineering, or data science, ideally with exposure to IT data or operational analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and modelling.
  • Experience with data warehousing tools such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Familiarity with data modelling best practices (dbt, Kimball methodology, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with BI and visualisation tools like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Experience developing dashboards and reporting solutions using BI solutions.
  • Familiarity with data governance and data management principles, with a track record in applying standardisation across disparate datasets and implementing technical controls on data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with API tools and Automation platforms
  • Hands-on experience using CICD tools and PR processes (Github, Jira, Juniper, etc.)
  • Curiosity and self-drive to continuously learn new techniques and tools to extract value from data.
  • Good written, verbal communication, and collaborative skills, with the ability to design and build using high-level requirements.
  • Experience owning, tracking, and delivering goals, working in teams
  • Would be even more awesome if you have:
    • Experience with Python for data analysis and automation
    • Exposure to A/B testing, experimentation, or predictive modelling
    • Exposure to integrations with GenAI tools
