Engineering Technician SME

Job Summary: KBR is seeking to hire an Engineering Technician SME in support of the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Operating Unit. The Engineering Technician SME will support the CIP Operating Unit and it’s various programs as a subject matter expert in the design, analysis, development, modification, and improvement of products/processes. Activities include but are not limited to: identifying and recommending improvements/preventive actions, inspecting, testing, maintaining, researching, repairing, and installing equipment and systems. Tests new and modified products, processes, and/or systems. This technician independently plans and accomplishes complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity or serves as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering, e.g., environmental factors affecting electronic engineering. Complexity of assignments typically requires considerable creativity and judgment to devise approaches to accomplish work, resolve design and operational problems, and make decisions in situations where standard engineering methods, procedures, and techniques may not be applicable.

Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to represent the company in the best light possible, be willing to travel, and be able to interact confidently with individuals at every level of each organization. Ideal candidate will have a Secret clearance but not required.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be tasked with the following:

  • Provide preventive and remedial maintenance services on IP-based CCTV systems.
  • Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Perform function tests and analysis on various systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning on all CCTV system components.
  • Provide on-site system training and technical support as needed.
  • Update web-based maintenance management system and provide tracking of government equipment.
  • Provide RMF ISSO support to maintain CYP CCTV ATO.
  • Update RMF documentation as required.
  • Assist ISSE with technical implementation of RMF controls.

Education/Training: (Must meet one of the following education/training requirements)

  • Associate degree in engineering, security, physics, information security or other technically oriented curricula.
  • Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications
  • Four-year electronics apprentice program
  • High School diploma or GED

 Experience:   

  • Ten (10) years of practical experience as an engineer or technician in the Electronic Systems Security industry.
  • Four (4) years of experience, to include: installation of such equipment.
  • Four (4) years of experience, to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
  • Standard MS Office software product knowledge (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point) is required. 

Note: Experience may be concurrent.

Travel: 

  • 50% travel is required; candidate must be willing to travel throughout the United States and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:   

  • A successful candidate must have a solid history of functioning in a team environment, being a self-starter, working independently with limited instruction, and meeting critical demands. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and have the ability work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Special consideration given to candidates with OEM factory training from Genetec, Axis and/or Cisco Switches.
  • Special consideration given to candidates with Security+ CE network certification.
  • Familiarity with eMASS and the DoD RMF process
  • Windows system administration experience.
  • Ideal candidate will have a Secret clearance but not required.

Work Location: Remote

Compensation: $82,800 - $124,200. The salary range posted is based on the national average.  The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.
