Job description

About Paxos

Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it.

We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world’s leading financial institutions, like PayPal, Venmo, Mastercard and Interactive Brokers.

About the team

You'll be joining a dynamic team focused on revolutionizing Rewards, Brokerage, Tax, Core-Ledger, Billing and reporting capabilities at Paxos. As a strategic vertical within the company, the team is at the forefront of developing innovative solutions that directly impact our ability to scale and expand our services globally. We're tackling complex challenges in rewards distribution across multiple jurisdictions while building robust automation systems to support our growing partner network.

About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll serve as the technical leader for our Rewards vertical, architecting and implementing solutions that will transform how we deliver rewards across different jurisdictions and custody models. This is a strategic role where you'll not only drive technical excellence but also help shape the team's vision and unlock new business opportunities. You'll be instrumental in consolidating multiple reward services into a unified platform and building scalable solutions for partner onboarding and automation.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the technical architecture and implementation of our unified Rewards platform, ensuring scalability across multiple jurisdictions
  • Design and implement automation systems to support onboarding 100+ GDN partners efficiently
  • Architect solutions for self-custodial wallets rewards calculations and distribution
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members, fostering a culture of engineering excellence
  • Drive technical decision-making and best practices across the team, including system design, code quality, and testing strategies
  • Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to translate strategic initiatives into technical solutions
  • Identify and proactively address technical debt while maintaining system reliability and performance

About you

  • 8+ years of experience building and scaling distributed systems in high-growth technology companies
  • Proven track record of leading complex technical initiatives from conception to delivery
  • Deep expertise in designing and implementing large-scale, high-performance systems
  • Strong experience with microservices architecture and cloud-native technologies
  • Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence across teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across the organization
  • Track record of building automation systems and improving operational efficiency
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve how you work
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
