About the position:
The Associate Director will be responsible for leading the development of new long-term recovery programs and identifying and cultivating new partnerships.
Key Outcomes:
Within 30 Days:
- Gain a strong understanding of long-term recovery program goals, budget structures, and operational tools.
- Begin building collaborative relationships with the Director of US Resilience, internal colleagues, and external partners.
- Review active awards and relevant documentation to become familiar with recovery timelines, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
- Alongside the Director of US Resilience and field teams, conduct long-term recovery assessment for Hurricane Helene and LA Wildfire needs and begin designing supportive, trauma-informed interventions.
Within 6 Months:
- Independently manage day-to-day operations of long-term recovery initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and effective budget tracking.
- Maintain regular communication with partners and support resolution of implementation or operational challenges.
- Provide high-quality support to the Director of US Resilience on financial reporting, planning, and cross-team coordination.
Within 1 Year:
- Serve as a dependable operational lead for long-term recovery programs, managing awards, deliverables, and partner relationships effectively.
- Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen the long-term recovery workstream.
- Play an active role in shaping future direction and strategy for long-term recovery efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively model and contribute to Americares values, work culture and mission.

- Lead portfolio of multiple complex clinic-to-community programs and provide support on key initiatives and projects .
- Drive execution of all day-to-day operations in a program/project life cycle.
- For assigned projects, programs, and workstreams, provide ownership and drive approved project workplans to ensure activities are carried out within expected timelines to ensure project success.
- Manage budget process for program-related expenses and grant payments
- Prepare and facilitate (or coordinate facilitation of) training and informational sessions to internal and external stakeholders related to programmatic goals and progress.
- Drive execution of approved engagement plan with assigned project/workstream donors and external partners
- Manage ongoing relationships with programmatic partners, including check-ins, creation and facilitation of needed support.

Degrees and/or experience required for the role:
- 6-8 years of experience in health, climate and disaster resilience, long-term recovery, communicable diseases, or emergency response program management.
- At least 1 year of people management experience.
These competencies are required for the role:
- Demonstrated ownership and results in managing clinic-to-community programs.
- Demonstrated partnership focus and competency with clinics, local health centers, or other US safety net providers.
- Demonstrated excellence project management excellence, including attention to detail, day-to-day execution, and regular updates.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability supporting, tracking, or co-managing multiple concurrent awards and/or budgets.
- Successful team or project lead experience with the ability to successfully motivate a team to accomplish the goals of the department and organization, with an ability to focus on the bigger vision while providing attention to detail.
US work authorization is required for this role.
Candidates must be currently living in and will continue to live in one of the following states/territories: CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, MD, MA, NC, NJ, NY, OR, PA, Puerto Rico, TN, TX, VA, or WA.
Ability to travel up to 30% depending on long-term recovery needs.

- Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia, etc.) , in addition to English.
