Job Description

Based on the strategic directions set by senior management and reporting to the Senior Director, the person in this role is responsible for implementing new partnerships while optimizing existing ones, with the goal of maximizing connectivity, enhancing the customer experience, and increasing profitability.

In this key position, the individual plays an active role in the transformation of Transat’s business model, now refocused on air travel. They contribute to the definition and execution of the network growth strategy, structured around three main pillars: strengthening and diversifying the network, improving efficiency, and building customer loyalty.

In this context, they identify growth opportunities through airline partnerships, including interline agreements, codeshare arrangements, and eventually, alliances or joint ventures.

Responsabilities:

Planning

  • Provides expertise in identifying the most relevant economic and strategic levers for both the development of new agreements and the optimization of existing partnerships.
  • Actively contributes to the establishment of strategic agreements, strengthening Transat’s position as a recognized player within the airline partnership ecosystem.
  • Validates the implementation timeline for each partnership, ensuring alignment with technical and operational feasibility.
  • Ensures that the business case for a new partner is developed, evaluated based on its potential (strategic fit, pricing), and proposes a Go/No-Go decision for implementation.

Implementation

  • Leads the negotiation of contractual terms for new codeshare, interline, and virtual interline agreements of key documents such as Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), Interline Traffic Agreements (ITAs), and Sales Prorate Agreements (SPAs).
  • Oversees the implementation of partnerships in coordination with relevant departments, including Legal, IT, Revenue Management, to ensure smooth and consistent integration.
  • Conducts an annual review of existing agreements based on performance, which may lead to adjustments in route scope, fare structures, or commercial terms.
  • Ensures the proper implementation of the Revenue Accounting process and reports any identified anomalies to the relevant stakeholders.

Performance and Optimization

  • Monitors the performance of partnerships based on KPIs (route profitability—revenues and costs, passengers carried, average fare, fare inversions, low-value tickets, missed connections).
  • Shares results with the Revenue Management, Pricing, and Network Strategy teams in relation to budgetary objectives and business cases.
  • Leads the bi-monthly performance review of the Joint Venture, analyzing key indicators and identifying priority actions based on performance gaps. Shares findings and recommendations with relevant stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
  • Supports the Senior Director in optimizing the Joint Venture with Porter.
  • Acts as a driver of innovation in the methodology and modeling of SPA amount negotiations.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of tools, processes, dashboards, and reports necessary for performance monitoring.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific and/or economic field (mathematics, economics, optimization, operations research); knowledge of the airline industry is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the airline industry in a similar role, including the management or development of airline alliances, partnerships, interline and codeshare agreements, or in network planning and alliances, or any other relevant equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, conceptual thinking, results-oriented mindset, and attention to detail.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong communicator, skilled negotiator, and self-confident.
  • Persuasive, proactive, and innovative.
  • Proficient in MS Office and analytical tools (Power BI).
  • Fluent in French and English, both spoken and written.*
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in a constantly evolving environment.

*A good knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate frequently in English, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders in Quebec, the rest of Canada, and internationally.
