SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE (Basic purpose of the job):

The Associate Director of Clinical Data Strategy and Insights supports the development of the Clinical, Operational, CPPM, and Translational Data acquisition, standardization, and analytics strategy while focusing on corporate and Development priorities. The Associate Director of Clinical Data Strategy and Insights provides key cross-functional liaison services and technical alignment to the on-time delivery of pivotal initiatives that involve significant business, technical, and process improvements across the organization. This role supports and influences the strategic direction and priorities of the function and partners closely with the Development organization, which is directly supported.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Capable of leading or managing the work of others by providing guidance to subordinates based on organizational goals and company policy, with responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, Data in a related field (e.g., Information Services, Data Science) or equivalent and a minimum of eleven years of related experience; or,

Master’s degree in computer sciences, Data in a related field (e.g., Information Services, Data Science) or equivalent and a minimum of nine years of related experience; or,

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Same as above – Minimum of eleven years of Related Experience with a Bachleor’s Degree, or a minimum of nine years of related experience with a Masters, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Intermediate Skills in configuration and management of Databricks UC
  • Intermediate Skills in programming languages including R and Python.
  • Intermediate Knowledge and enterprise experience leading data acquisition, analytics, and AI-based capabilities across multiple Clinical domains.
  • Intermediate Knowledge of Delta Lake, Data Modelling Best Practices and Data Lakehouse architecture.
  • Intermediate Knowledge of Metadata Management and Data Lineage Tracking in Unity Catalogue
  • Intermediate Knowledge of Enterprise Data Governance Methodologies and Data Cataloguing Tools (e.g. Atlan, Colibra, Reltio)

  • Advanced Skills developing and administrating BI Platforms including Spotfire, Tableau, PowerBI.
  • Advanced Technical Expertise in SaaS AWS Cloud Infrastructure including SE, EC2, Lambda, Glue, Redshift
  • Intermediate Skills with CI/CD Tooling and Version Control as part Data Pipeline and Data Integration Strategies.
  • Intermediate Abilities in Data Modeling and Warehouse Infrastructure Architecture
  • Advanced Knowledge and Abilities in Data Modeling, Data Integration Development, Dev Ops and Data Governance.
  • Intermediate Knowledge and Skills Administrating and Developing with classified sensitive data and analytical products.
  • Advanced Knowledge and ability to provide data services and system ownership in a GxP-governed enterprise setting.
  • Intermediate Knowledge of Databricks Maintenance and Monitoring Implementation Strategies
  • Advanced Knowledge of pharmaceutical and/or CRO industry practices with broad experience in one or more of the domains of Clinical Data Strategy and Insights.
  • Advanced interpersonal, influencing, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $227,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.

In addition to the base salary, as part of our Total Rewards program, Exelixis offers comprehensive employee benefits package, including a 401k plan with generous company contributions, group medical, dental and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, and flexible spending accounts. Employees are also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus program, or if field sales staff, a sales-based incentive plan.
