Guild is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead the creation of a brand-new Claims domain—an ambitious initiative transforming how we deliver clarity into benefit utilization, estimated spend, and financial forecasting. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape a critical area at the intersection of our Benefits Admin, Academic, and Payments systems—driving innovation across Guild’s technical ecosystem.

In this role, you’ll go beyond execution—coaching Engineering Managers and senior ICs, aligning teams to strategic goals, and ensuring we scale with purpose. You’ll guide staffing, resource planning, and technical direction to unlock high performance and long-term impact.

As a Senior Manager, you will:

  • Excel at team leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop ICs and Engineering Managers, ensuring teams have clear growth paths, strong leadership, and alignment with business needs.
  • Structure and organize teams effectively, optimizing staffing, skill distribution, and capacity planning to meet company priorities.
  • Actively shape engineering culture, championing continuous improvement, diversity, and technical excellence across teams.
  • Foster a culture of urgency and strategic prioritization, ensuring engineering efforts align with business goals and long-term vision.
  • Create contingency plans and adapt to shifting business needs, guiding teams through change and uncertainty with clarity and confidence.
  • Collaborate across team and organizational boundaries
  • Work across teams and pillars to drive multi-team objectives, ensuring clarity in planning and fostering collaboration between engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
  • Influence Guild-wide initiatives, working with executive leadership to shape organizational engineering strategy and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Represent engineering in high-level discussions, serving as a proxy for the Director of Engineering in key collaborations with business stakeholders.
  • Build and strengthen relationships across the organization to foster a collaborative environment for addressing complex, multi-disciplinary challenges
  • Provide high-impact technical guidance
  • Meet with external partners and vendors to evaluate new technologies and ensure strategic integration into Guild’s platform.
  • Oversee multiple engineering domains, driving cross-team initiatives, scalability improvements, and major technical investments.
  • Partner with leadership to define technical and product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business goals while balancing innovation and operational efficiency.

We are committed to equal pay for equal work and believe in compensation transparency. All salary ranges are standardized nationwide and will not vary by region. This role offers a competitive total compensation package, including a base salary of $200,000 - $245,000, and stock options. Compensation offered will be based on a combination of factors such as experience, competencies, and internal equity.
