Allianz Reinsurance American, Inc. (AZRA) is a specialty niche reinsurer, domiciled in California and licensed as an admitted insurer in 36 states (including District of Columbia), and is a qualified, accredited, or approved reinsurer in fifteen states. AZRA is a property casualty reinsurer which writes both prospective and legacy reinsurance.
AZRA has specific expertise in run-off management of U.S. legacy insurance liabilities. It services Allianz Group affiliates and third parties including third party claims administration of asbestos, environmental, workers compensation, general liability, and construction defect liabilities. AZRA has approximately 150 employees located nationwide with the majority working on a remote basis. AZRA is rated “AA-“by Standard & Poor’s. As of December 31, 2022, AZRA had total admitted assets of USD $2.3 billion and policyholders’ surplus of $232 million.
What you do:
Under general supervision, perform day-to-day audit activities. Identify and evaluate risk, execute audit program steps, perform audits of varying complexity, identify, and communicate issues, and provide written and oral feedback relative to the engagement. Work with management in developing action plans to ensure audit risks are effectively mitigated. Demonstrate curiosity and growth mindset while interfacing with business partners to understand their functions and processes and desire to develop business acumen for related audit areas. This position will report to the Head of Internal Audit.
- Execute audit activities as assigned with autonomy, but under general supervision of the Head of Internal Audit. Manage single scope audits end to end where possible. Review business processes and draft audit programs to effectively test the design and operational effectiveness of the system of internal controls. Examine the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance and the efficiency of the operational processes.
- Identify and communicate issues and provide recommendations for improvements of the internal control environment. Presenting audit findings and conclusions raised with business unit stakeholders and leaders.
- Developing and managing relationships with senior management, leaders and employees throughout the organization. Collaborate with management on the development of action plans to ensure risks are mitigated appropriately and follow-up to completion. Manage the follow up reviews for respective areas to ensure that audit recommendations raised have been implemented by the due date.
- Support projects and other efforts as needed and under direction of the Head of Internal Audit.
- Utilization of artificial intelligence tools and resources (e.g. generative AI).
What you bring:
- 6+ years’ of experience required including relevant audit experience including root-cause analysis, data mining and use of audit management software (e.g. TeamMate+)
- College degree required in business, finance or related field or equivalent work experience
- Job will require up to 20% domestic and/or international travel
Base Salary Range $90,000-$110,000
Actual base salary may vary based upon factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity of peers, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual incentive program.
