 Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $121,500.00  to $202,500.00.

Position details:

We are seeking a Senior Staff Network Engineer  to join our team, bringing extensive expertise in network engineering and network security to lead our Network Access Control (NAC) initiative and demonstrate advanced AWS networking knowledge. You will drive the design, implementation, and optimization of secure, scalable network architectures, mentor team members in NAC and cloud technologies, and actively engage with the tech community to influence adjacent domains, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

You will:

  • Lead Network Access Control Initiative: Oversee the development, deployment, and management of NAC solutions to ensure robust network security, access control, and compliance with industry standards.
  • AWS Networking Expertise: Architect and optimize AWS-based network environments using AWS Cloud Services, leveraging VPCs, Direct Connect, Transit Gateways, Route 53, and other AWS networking services, with a focus on application scaling and capacity planning.
  • Network Security: Design and implement advanced network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and secure access controls, to protect infrastructure and data.
  • Network Design and Optimization: Develop and maintain high-performance, secure, and scalable network infrastructure, utilizing infrastructure automation and containerization technologies to support critical applications and services.
  • Troubleshooting and Incident Response: Diagnose and resolve complex network and security issues through network troubleshooting and log analysis, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • System Monitoring and Observability: Implement and manage observability tools and system monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address potential issues, enhancing service availability and reliability.
  • Mentorship and Team Development: Mentor and guide team members, fostering their growth in NAC solutions, AWS cloud networking, network security, and scripting languages through knowledge sharing, hands-on training, and collaborative projects.
  • Tech Community Engagement: Actively participate in the tech community through conferences, forums, or open-source contributions, collaborating with and influencing adjacent domains such as cybersecurity, cloud architecture, and DevOps.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Partner with security, DevOps, and application teams to align network strategies with business goals, leveraging Linux administration and disaster recovery expertise to drive cross-functional initiatives and influence best practices.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Create and maintain detailed network and security documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and policies, while ensuring adherence to security and regulatory standards.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of network engineering experience, with at least 5 years focused on advanced network security and AWS networking. Relevant experience may substitute for any degree or certification requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs) and security frameworks.
  • Experience with NAC solutions (e.g., Cisco ISE, Aruba ClearPass, or similar) and network security tools (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM).
  • Advanced proficiency in AWS Cloud Services, including VPC design, subnetting, security groups, NACLs, and hybrid cloud connectivity, with skills in application scaling and capacity planning.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto), software-defined networking (SDN), and containerization technologies.
  • Proficiency in network troubleshooting, log analysis, system monitoring, and observability tools (e.g., OpenSearch, Grafana, Datadog).
  • Strong skills in infrastructure automation, scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), Linux administration, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Certifications (preferred but not required): AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent. Equivalent
  • Demonstrated engagement in the tech community, such as speaking at industry events, contributing to open-source projects, or collaborating with professionals in cybersecurity, cloud, or DevOps
