Job description

This is a remote position.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Illinois time)
Total Weekly Hours: 40 hours (1-hour unpaid break daily)

Our client is hiring a Bookkeeper to help support their creative clients by keeping their finances organized, accurate, and up-to-date. You’ll be responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, performing month-end closings, and preparing reports using tools like Xero and QuickBooks Online. You’ll work closely with their accountants and clients, making a real impact by helping entrepreneurs maintain financial clarity and health.


Responsibilities
  • Handle full-cycle month-end close, including journal entries

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client accounts

  • Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and reports

  • Analyze financial data and resolve discrepancies

  • Assist with accounts payable/receivable tasks

  • Respond to client inquiries and collaborate with senior team members

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies

  • Use Xero, QuickBooks Online, Google Sheets, Slack, Zoom, and Canopy

  • Communicate proactively about delays or missed deadlines

  • Support continuous process improvement



Requirements
  • Proficiency in Xero and QuickBooks Online

  • Solid understanding of GAAP and month-end close

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Excellent analytical and communication abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Comfortable using Google Sheets, Slack, Zoom, and project management tools

  • Strong discretion with client data

  • Positive attitude and team player


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling multiple clients or entities

  • Familiarity with cloud-based collaboration and reporting tools
