Job Description Summary

‎

The Principal UX Designer for the Configuration Experience will be a foundational member of a growing, fast-paced team of designers and researchers who are reenvisioning the Castlight platform from the ground up. You will take ownership of a critical aspect of the platform: the “behind the scenes” tooling application that allows Benefit Leaders, implementation team members, and other administrators the ability to customize, roll out, monitor, and update the end-user experience.

‎

How will you make an impact & Requirements

‎

Principal User Experience Designer, Configuration Experience

At apree health, we’re on a mission to help people use their health benefits—connecting the right person to the right service at the right time. We’re integrating AI in smart and thoughtful ways throughout the ecosystem while we rethink the fundamental experiences the platform offers. Be a part of building a better, healthier future for employees, health plan members, and their families!

What You’ll Do

  • Take ownership of a strategic, broad, and complex aspect of the Castlight platform. Working independently, create a plan and operational cadence for a full redesign of the application, from initial discovery research and analysis to implementation, monitoring, and iteration.

  • Be responsible for a broad range of UX deliverables such as user journeys and workflows, experience architecture diagrams, storyboards, wireframes, and high fidelity mockups.

  • Deeply understand the role, needs, and pain points of implementation team members, Benefit Leaders, and other system administrators and translate those needs into modern, seamless, and delightful experiences. Additionally, understand and support customization and configuration needs from clients and requirements from product owners.

  • Work across the design process at many levels: from the “30,000 ft” view to the interaction details that makes an experience feel sophisticated.

  • Work closely with product leaders to inform roadmap and prioritization decisions from user insights. Be an advocate of your users and of the design process, as well as a considerate and thoughtful collaborator.

  • Communicate progress to executives and clients on a regular basis, effectively articulating the experience strategy and process.

  • Stay on top of UX trends and technological advancements, ensuring that the company’s design practices are at the forefront of the industry and continuously evolving. Bring new processes, ideas, and ways of working back to the UX team and our product and engineering partners.

  • Be a strong and positive role model and mentor for a growing design team, fostering a culture of design excellence. Chip in to other areas of work as needed. Work to stand up new practices and lead aspects of team development to create an organization that is smart, talented, and has fun working together!

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in product design or a related role, including managing design initiatives across multiple products.

  • Proven experience creating and driving the UX strategy for complex, user-facing products in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong expertise in user-centered design principles, interaction design, visual design, and information architecture.

  • Hands-on experience with UX design tools (e.g., Figma).

  • Strong understanding of agile product development and experience collaborating in cross-functional teams, particularly with engineering and product management.

  • Deep understanding of user research methods and experience applying insights to influence product design decisions. Ability to plan, execute, and synthesize research across both qualitative and quantitative methods.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design rationale and user experience value to senior executives and stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to mentor and develop design teams, fostering a collaborative, creative, and high-performance environment.

Compensation:  $158,804K - $198,506K & bonus eligible (national average, premium markets may vary)
