Job description

Refrigeration & HVAC Engineer

At Hitachi, we are committed to enhancing well-being through innovative heating and cooling technologies. With over 90 years of experience in HVAC, we deliver reliable, high-quality solutions that improve air quality and ensure energy efficiency. Since the creation of the Johnson Controls - Hitachi joint venture in 2015, we’ve offered more than just products—we’ve stayed true to our vision of blending tradition and innovation to improve the essence of life through air.

Our commitment, “Air is Life,” reflects our dedication to transforming lives with dependable heating and cooling solutions that create perfect indoor environments, ensuring clean, healthy air that enhances comfort and well-being around the world.

What You Will Do

What if your HVAC expertise could make an impact in over 25 countries, all from one place?

At Johnson Controls - Hitachi, we’re looking for a Refrigeration & HVAC Engineer who goes beyond troubleshooting, someone who understands systems in depth, anticipates failures, and drives continuous improvement. This is not a field technician role. It’s a technical engineering position focused on remote diagnostics, root cause analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our HVAC and refrigeration solutions globally.

From our plant in Vacarisses, you’ll act as a technical authority, supporting local service teams across multiple regions when complex issues arise. You’ll analyze market data, identify recurring patterns, and work closely with Warranty, Customer Service, and Design teams to implement long-term solutions that elevate product performance and customer satisfaction.

Location: Vacarisses Plant, Barcelona.

How You Will Do It

  • Lead advanced diagnostics and root cause analysis of HVAC and refrigeration system issues reported by our international clients.
  • Provide remote technical support to local service teams, ensuring fast and effective resolution of complex incidents.
  • Collaborate with the Design team to address recurring component failures and contribute to product improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain and develop technical documentation and generate detailed reports on interventions and performance analysis.
  • Work closely with other departments (engineering, quality, and production) to implement technical improvements and ensure customer satisfaction.

What We Are Looking For

  • Degree in Technical or Higher Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Industrial, or similar).
  • At least 3 years of experience in similar technical roles, ideally in the HVAC or refrigeration sector.
  • Experience in field service is a plus, but your core strength lies in technical analysis, systems thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, with proven skills in fault diagnosis and problem-solving.
  • Solid understanding of safety and quality standards.
  • Advanced level of English is required. Other languages are a plus.

What we offer

Johnson Control offers an interesting compensation package according to your qualification and experience.   In addition to our salary policy, job stability, training, the possibility of professional development, and an excellent work environment, are part of our employee benefits package.

Working with us you will be part of a global company that welcomes diversity, rewards work well done and inspires people to achieve their best. In an environment that is constantly evolving, we will put the pillars so that you can develop a professional path that is as unique as you. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to make a difference. The world is waiting for you, and so are we.
