Join our American Amicable team today! This is a remote role! If you have Assembler and Life Insurance experience , we'd love to talk!

Your focus: You’ll work as a developer on our mainframe and complete front-end/back-end work to support the systems that sell our life insurance products. Help us create operating efficiencies or to adopt new procedures. You may develop diagrams to display data flows for our applications. You'll be instrumental in coding, testing, and debugging our programs.

Main Duties:

Assist in designing, programming, configuring, and integrating the solution in a enterprise environment 

  • Support the existing legacy system, Life Comm, which supports the entire Life Insurance cycle from new business to Policy Administration  

  • Showing constant concern for guaranteeing the security and preserving the confidentiality of digital information 

  • Preparing his/her development work for the execution of automated tests 

  • Performing the required tests throughout the development process until production, avoiding service interruptions 

  • Measuring the qualities of the developed solution (performance, robustness, functional coverage of the tests, etc.) 

  • Implementing or using a continuous integration and deployment pipeline 

Other Tasks:

  • Actively participate and initiate discussions between team members regarding design choices related to best practices and corporate standards. 

  • Understand and validate the needs expressed by the team, in close collaboration with the Product Owner (PO) and/or users. 

  • Promote the validation of the code produced by the team and help implement best practices. 

  • Provide technical support for the software solution once put into production (anomalies, maintenance, oversight, etc.). 

  • Support the team for the documentation strategy and promote best practices) 

  • Take responsibility for complex tasks and set the standard in his/her area of technical expertise. 

What We are Looking For:
  • At least ten years of related experience    

  • Working knowledge of Life Comm or similar Life Insurance package (Life70, CFO, ISCM, or ALIS) is required

  • Development languages and tools: Assembler programming language , VSAM, Batch JCL (VSE)

  • Experience with unit testing and test-driven development (TDD). 

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

  • Detail-oriented with solid research abilities.

  • Effective under pressure, managing multiple projects.

  • Organized, with strong prioritization skills.

  • Collaborative team player who can also work independently.

  • Adaptable to procedural and organizational changes.

  • Positive and eager to learn.
