Job Details

Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Monitors Workday notifications for any changes that would affect payroll or Paid Time Off.

  • Assists with Payroll pre-processing reports and approvals to include auditing team member payroll entries.

  • Assists with maintaining appropriate internal controls over payroll related functions to ensure SOX compliance.

  • Manages tax notices for historical entities as well as research tax issues and works with appropriate Tax Service on any tax notices.  Set up new tax entities when appropriate.

  • Supports any tax audits, year-end W2 audits, worker’s compensation audits, and any other audit related to payroll or assigned benefits. 

  • Serve as liaison between Payroll and Accounting, assisting with integration function between Payroll and Accounting Workday modules and handling inquires and requests from Accounting as needed

 

Benefits

  • Audits benefits-related data to ensure accuracy of enrollments and premium deductions; processes payroll adjustments as necessary.

  • Processes monthly benefit plan invoices and ensures timely payment of associated fees.

  • Serves as a liaison between participants, beneficiaries, and the plan administrator, facilitating requests for contribution adjustments, refunds, and other administrative changes.

  • Ensures compliance in the administration of assigned benefit plans with company policies, as well as state and federal regulations.

  • Responds to general payroll and assigned benefit inquiries made by employees.  Maintains effective and compassionate communication with employees regarding payroll and assigned benefit programs and company/state/federal policies related to these programs.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Professional certification preferred (i.e., CPP, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP).

 

Qualifications

  • Workday and OneSource Virtual preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in employee benefits administration required.

  • 4+ years of experience in payroll administration, retirement plan administration, and HRIS systems required.  Workday preferred.

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, research methods and data analysis techniques.

  • Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality for sensitive personnel issues, sensitive strategic corporate information, and employee data.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.  Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with discretion, tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently. Demonstrates strong teamwork and collaboration skills. 

  • Highly analytical with the ability to conduct audits, perform detailed analysis of qualitative and quantitative data including skill in creating complex spreadsheets which require the use of complex formulas. Demonstrates skill in creating reports, evaluating personnel and financial data, summarizing key observations, and presenting options for consideration.

  • Expert-level computer skills: HR Information System (i.e., Workday), various payroll/financial/benefit platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced technical proficiencies include but are not limited to: report writing and Excel using quantitative analysis, charting, pivot tables, formulas/algorithms, and trend analysis. 

  • Demonstrates initiative and accountability with the ability to take primary ownership of assigned benefits/total rewards programs and administration.
