Job description

We are seeking a strategic, execution-oriented Chief of Staff to partner directly with our Head of Product. This role is ideal for a highly capable operator who thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments, particularly those shaped by private equity, and interested in enabling great leadership.

Tempo’s product organization is navigating rapid growth and change, including a major platform initiative , expansion into new markets, and support for multiple product lines and customer segments. In this dynamic environment, the Chief of Staff will act as a force multiplier to the Head of Product; driving execution, cross-functional alignment, and organizational health so that leadership can focus on strategic direction and external visibility.

You’ll own high-leverage initiatives that span functions, such as preparing materials for the board and executive team, delivering daily competitive and market intelligence readouts, and keeping priorities on track across teams. This is a unique opportunity to operate at the heart of the product function during a period of high transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Support & Prioritization

  • Help the Head of Product manage competing priorities, organize strategic planning, and operationalize key initiatives.

  • Act as a thought partner and strategic filter, ensuring the Head of Product remains focused on high-impact decisions.

  • Provide daily briefings and insights—including competitive and market intelligence—to ensure awareness of the broader landscape.

Execution Oversight

  • Track progress on critical product initiatives and org-wide priorities, ensuring deliverables and milestones are met.

  • Identify blockers or gaps early and propose solutions to maintain momentum.

  • Ensure follow-through on leadership decisions and strategic commitments.

Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Own coordination across Product, Engineering, Design, GTM, and Finance to maintain alignment and cohesion.

  • Lead select cross-functional Product initiatives and special Product projects end-to-end.

Internal & Executive Communication

  • Draft crisp, structured messaging for internal communications, product updates, and board/executive presentations.

  • Prepare briefing materials and narratives for external-facing thought leadership opportunities led by the Head of Product.

  • Promote Product team health by surfacing and addressing org-wide friction points or cultural gaps.

Who You Are

  • A highly capable, behind-the-scenes operator who can work at the executive level while staying grounded in execution.

  • A structured thinker with excellent program and project management skills who brings clarity to ambiguity.

  • Emotionally intelligent, with the ability to navigate cross-functional dynamics and maintain alignment.

  • Comfortable in fast-moving, performance-driven environments, ideally with exposure to private equity-backed or high-growth SaaS companies.

  • A strong communicator who can synthesize complex information into simple, compelling narratives for internal and external audiences.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience in a strategy, operations, consulting, or Chief of Staff-type role

  • Prior exposure to product-led or SaaS businesses strongly preferred

  • Experience in Collaborative Work Management (CWM), Product portfolio and program management (PPM) or Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) space is a bonus

  • Experience supporting executive leadership in PE or VC-backed companies

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree a plus but not required
