Job description

Role: Lead DevOps Engineer
Position Type: Full-Time Contract (40hrs/week)
Contract Duration: 6+ months (with a possibility of extension)
Work Hours: US PST time
Work Schedule: 8 hours/day (Mon-Fri)
Location: 100% remote (can work from anywhere in LATAM Countries)
Overview:

We're seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to join a high-impact project team focused on building and enhancing self-checkout infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in DevOps tooling and automation, especially in building CI/CD pipelines from scratch, and who thrives in a Linux-heavy, containerized environment. While Python and Terraform experience are valued, foundational DevOps skills are prioritized.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Build, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Groovy

  • Write and maintain Ansible playbooks for configuration management

  • Manage application containers and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes

  • Maintain and author Helm charts

  • Perform Linux system administration and support application triaging

  • Participate in daily standups, planning meetings, and design discussions

  • Collaborate on bug fixes, system migrations, and future enhancements

  • Contribute to or refactor custom Python applications as needed


Priority Skills (Foundational – Must-Have):
  • Strong Linux system administration experience

  • Jenkins (admin-level) and CI/CD pipeline design from scratch

  • Groovy scripting (original author of Jenkins pipelines)

  • Ansible (playbook creation and usage)

  • Kubernetes – familiarity with namespaces/pods via CLI (not full cluster admin)

  • Docker – authoring and managing images

  • Helm – chart maintenance

  • Strong diagnostic/triage skills in Linux environments


Nice-to-Have (Developer Skillsets):
  • Python (with Flask, FastAPI, or Django frameworks)

  • Terraform (for infrastructure as code)

  • Past contributions to custom internal applications in Python
