About the Team:

Our Technology team drives the evolution of our Technology, Engineering, Data, Product and User Experience functions. As a part of the McCloskey division, you will deliver essential coal, metals and mining industry products and solutions to help clients understand market dynamics, inform strategic planning, and position their company for success leveraging knowledgeable insight and advisory support from McCloskey experts. Our coal services include reliable and independent market news, reporting and analysis, strategic outlooks and robust forecasting, and detailed coal price indexes, data and industry analytics.

About the Role:

As an experienced and solution-oriented Senior Data Engineer your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: working with our product teams to provide timely, effective and performant solutions; contributing to the design of scalable data solutions, including the development of automated pipelines; implementing and/or maintaining database systems to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our application suite; understand and define business data requirements and identify data needs and data sources to create scalable data architecture and support enhancements, new product and implementation. You will be a leader coaching, mentoring, and training team members driving both employee and team development and growth.

You Will:
  • Onboard new data points to database and API

  • Create and maintain stored procedures, views, functions

  • Write advanced SQL queries and statements to explore source data and data issues

  • Create data models for the integration of multiple systems

You Have:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, related technical field, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 2 years database developer experience, (SQL Server, PostgreSQL or equivalent)

  • Working knowledge of cloud data technologies and architecture

  • Azure DevOps continuous integration, delivery and improvement, GIT

  • Nice to have: C# is a plus, Python, PowerShell or Power BI

  • Knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodology and/or SCRUM

  • Experience working with scripts under source control (Git/TFVC/Mercurial/Svn/etc)

  • Experience being part of a continuous integration and deployment process

  • Experience using database monitoring tools (like tools from SolarWinds or RedGate)

  • Effective communicator

Pay Range: $90,000 - $120,000
