We are seeking an experienced and driven Regional Sales Director to lead the growth of our AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) solutions across a defined multi-state territory. This role is responsible for driving new utility sales, managing distributor relationships, and building a high-velocity pipeline of opportunities across water, gas, and electric utility markets. This is a high-velocity, boots-on-the-ground role focused on working through local distribution partners to win new water, gas, and electric AMI business.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a regional sales strategy to meet or exceed revenue targets
Identify and close new business opportunities with municipal utilities, cooperatives, and utility districts
Build strong, trust-based relationships with utility stakeholders, consultants, and procurement officials
Manage and support channel/distribution partners, including training, co-selling, and territory planning
Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, product, support) to tailor solutions and ensure delivery alignment
Stay informed on regulatory changes, competitive landscape, and utility procurement cycles within the region
Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and regional association meetings
Required Qualifications
Sales experience in the utility, metering, or AMI space
Proven track record of exceeding sales quotas in a technical or capital equipment sales role
Deep understanding of the utility sales cycle, including RFPs, pilot programs, and board-driven purchasing
Existing network of utility or distributor decision-makers in assigned territory
Willingness to travel frequently throughout the region
Hunter Mentality — must have a proven track record of opening new accounts and winning competitive deals
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working for or selling legacy AMI solutions (Neptune, Badger, Sensus, Aclara)
Background in metering distribution, especially aligned with legacy vendors
Experience across water, gas, and electric verticals
Proven ability to close multi-year, multi-utility, or turn-key solutions
Willingness to learn modern AMI strategies (cellular, multi-carrier, etc.)
