The Director of Accounting and Reporting is responsible for the consolidation of Saks Global’s financial results, the preparation of external financial statements for reporting to shareholders, lenders and other external stakeholders, and ensures the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of consolidated financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The role will assist with the research of complex accounting issues and transactions, and is responsible for applying the Company’s accounting policies, internal controls and procedures to ensure the accurate reporting of consolidated financial results in a timely manner.

Role Description

  • Lead, develop, and monitor the financial reporting team for Saks Global and affiliated entities
  • Lead the consolidation process of Saks Global entities
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on complex corporate transactions
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance reviews
  • Communicate and collaborate with multiple Accounting teams and business partners to provide support and guidance over various ad hoc issues and requests
  • Oversee the preparation and consolidation of global financial statements, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
  • Lead the quarterly and annual lender and shareholder reporting process, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements and management discussion and analysis (MD&A)
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
  • Coordinate and manage external audits, serving as the primary liaison with auditors and ensuring timely completion.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing actionable insights to senior leadership for strategic decision-making.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including tax, treasury, and operations, to address accounting issues and streamline processes.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and standards, ensuring the company remains compliant.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate actions with financial due diligence and integration planning.
  • Other ad hoc projects as required

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP accounting standards.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting and financial consolidations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize deliverables and meet tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with SAP S4HANA or similar ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with IFRS and international financial reporting.
  • Experience in the luxury retail or consumer goods industry.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel and financial modeling.
