The Associate Planner will learn to develop merchandise plans and targets for an assigned group of product categories to maximize sales, optimize inventory and increase margin through the analysis of historical sales trends, current in-season patterns, and future forecasts. The Associate Planner will support their team by preparing reports, analytics, and various ad-hoc tasks to support pre-season strategy, open-to-buy meetings, weekly business reviews, markdowns/promotions, and seasonal buys.
 
What You’ll Do: 
  • Support in the development of annual, seasonal, monthly, and weekly assortment plans for assigned product categories that ladders back to top-down financial targets. 
  • Inform pre-season bottom-up level plans for sales, inventory, markdowns/sell out plans, style counts, productivity, and margin in partnership with Merchants.  
  • Support quarterly, seasonal, and fiscal Hindsight process as well as other product attributes by pulling and reviewing data as well as providing initial findings.  
  • For assigned categories utilize and manage Basic Ladder Plans, monthly OTB reconciliation processes and frequent review of inventory to decide to continue a style as a Basic or to Exit.  
  • Coordinates with the Merchant and Allocation Team to develop and implement seasonal strategies according to region, climate, and other associated variables as well as store product tests, GMROI on store space and key sizing strategies.  
  • Manages reforecasting of category unit plans/dollar plans, focusing on future opportunities as well as minimizing sales/inventory risks. Frequently reconciles over or under-bought situations.   
  • On weekly basis, supports and participates in the analysis of business trends, including but not limited to, category performance, channel selling, margin drivers, and seasonality.  
  • Provides data and makes recommendations for markdown and promos on weekly basis that supports achieving sales, margin, and inventory targets.  
  • Continuously gives feedback on areas for process improvements as well as efficiency gains.  
  • Supports and executes ad-hoc reporting needs for both the Planning team and cross functional partners 

What You’ll Need: 

  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, and interpretation.
  • Technically proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with planning systems and BI tools preferred.
  • Proactive self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and manages competing priorities with ease.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to convey complex data and product stories clearly across all levels, including executives.
