The Government Publishing Office (GPO) is seeking a skilled Oracle Developer to provide technical support services for Business Reporting Development and Maintenance. This role emphasizes delivering high-quality reporting solutions while aiding GPO’s strategic transition toward a modernized Power BI environment. The selected contractor will provide subject matter expertise across key reporting functions, both on-site and remotely, in compliance with GPO's IT security and telework policies.
- New report development using Power BI and Azure Synapse semantic models.
- Maintenance and enhancement of existing Power BI and Business Objects reports.
- Environment support, including Business Objects server patching and upgrades.
- Data integration across Oracle Federal Financials, SQL Server, and Azure platforms.
- Responsive support to business unit requests through the ServiceNow tasking system.
- Ad hoc reporting for audits, executive needs, and operational monitoring.
Report Development
- Develop new Power BI reports based on user requirements, focusing on data sourced from Oracle systems.
- Modify and enhance existing Power BI and Azure Synapse semantic models to optimize reporting capabilities.
- Collaborate with business units for iterative testing and deployment of reports, ensuring requirements are met effectively.
Report Maintenance
- Maintain and update existing Business Objects and Power BI reports, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
- Perform routine updates, error corrections, and optimizations on Oracle databases and reports.
- Address and support ad hoc modification requests from business units promptly and accurately.
Environment Maintenance
- Monitor the performance and stability of Oracle database environments, implementing proactive measures to resolve issues.
- Apply necessary patches and upgrades to the Business Objects environment, ensuring it functions effectively alongside Oracle systems.
- Support GPO’s transition from Business Objects to a fully Power BI-based reporting architecture, ensuring data integration and application compatibility.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Oracle Developer or in a similar role.
- Strong proficiency in Oracle Federal Financials, SQL Server, and Power BI. Familiarity with Business Objects is an advantage.
- Experience in data integration and reporting development using Oracle and related technologies.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to understand and translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
