We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced Finished Fuel Additive Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in the development, application, and performance evaluation of fuel additives. This role involves leading the innovation, testing, and optimization of fuel additive formulations to enhance fuel performance and meet regulatory requirements


Key Responsibilities


Technical Expertise and Support

  • Serve as the primary expert for all finished fuel additive-related inquiries and challenges.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to product development, sales and operations teams.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of fuel performance issues and recommend appropriate additive solutions.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the optimization of fuel additive treatment programs.

Research and Development

  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in fuel additive technology and industry trends.
  • Work with partners to evaluate new chemistries to enhance additive performance.
  • Conduct research and participate in industry forums and conferences to gather insights and share knowledge.
  • Collaborate with external research organizations and academic institutions on innovative projects.

Standards and Compliance

  • Ensure all fuel additive products comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and update internal guidelines and best practices for fuel additive development and use.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.

Training and Development

  • Design and deliver training programs for staff on fuel additive technologies and applications.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians in fuel additive science and engineering practices.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare detailed technical reports on fuel additive studies, findings, and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of research data, test results, and product development activities.
  • Present technical insights and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field. Master’s degree or Ph.D. is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in finished fuel space, preferably with a mix of laboratory and field support.
  • Proven track record in managing and optimizing fuel additive formulations and applications.

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of additive formulations and performance evaluation techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and analytical tools relevant to fuel additive testing

Working Conditions / Physical Demands 

  • Work will typically be performed in an office environment using routine office equipment.

Travel Requirements 

  • Less than 20% - only as needed for training, off-site meetings, etc
