Job Summary:

Conducts the examinations and evaluations of the adequacy and effectiveness of the organization's system of internal control and the quality of performance in carrying out assigned responsibilities as defined in the Internal Audit Charter. Focuses on financial, operational or compliance audit engagements or special projects throughout the system. Provides advisory and consulting services throughout the organization to aid in increased effectiveness and efficiency of business operations. Provides guidance and supervision on an engagement basis to Associate and Intermediate Auditors. Supervises and reviews work completed and conducted by Associate and Intermediate Auditors.

Job Duties:

  • Independently researches assigned audit areas and completes all segments of the planning process to formulate audit objectives, risks and test procedures that sufficiently support the audit’s intention and scope.
  • Performs duties in accordance to audit theory, standard and controls frameworks and applies this knowledge throughout all engagements.
  • Works independently to assess the current state of business processes to identify potential improvements through walkthrough, data analytics and observations.
  • Prepares workpapers showing the results of the area being audited.
  • Within the workpapers, obtains and analyzes supporting documentation to formulate an informed, objective opinion on the control environment for the process being reviewed.
  • Independently manages projects to ensure timely completion of work within the established budget, including oversight of staff assisting on the engagement.
  • Works independently to ensure all engagements are completed in compliance with department policies.
  • Makes oral and written presentations to all levels of senior management throughout all phases of audit engagements.
  • Compiles recommendations to address audit issues identified and aids management in formulating corrective action plans using root cause analysis.
  • Utilizes technology sources to increase accuracy and efficiency of audit work and understands data analysis terminology.
  • Identifies and analyzes performance opportunities in operational, clinical, sales, human resources, marketing, information technology and financial processes using administrative and clinical systems.
  • Uses analytic and subjective assessment skills to identify substantial performance improvement opportunities at the project level.
  • Establishes and manages relationships to achieve process improvements with line staff, department managers, vice president, physicians, physician program leaders and physician chairs.
  • Performs such other duties as are required or assigned for which the employee is qualified to perform.
