Climate Collective is an India-based non-profit, focused on empowering entrepreneurs focused on climate change and the circular economy throughout the Global South.  

Over the years, Climate Collective has grown to become the largest Climate Tech startup support platform in South Asia (and soon, expanding across the Global South). About the ‘Impact Assessment Vertical’ at Climate Collective 

We have a large climate tech startup portfolio, and we support them in measuring and reporting their climate impact to investors and clients. We have developed a Climate Metrics Guide for Small and Growing Businesses in partnership with the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE).  We have developed easy-to-use climate mitigation as well and adaptation and resilience (A&R) focused impact measurement tools in partnership with Habitat for Humanity's Terwilliger Centre ,the ASAP Accelerator project and WWF Climate Solver Project.  

We are also a knowledge contributor on the South Asia Working Group of Prime Coalition, to create case studies on climate A&R solutions for investor-focused impact assessment and reporting. 



Requirements

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic individual as a Technical Expert for our Impact Vertical. As a technical expert you will lead and support strategic initiatives under the vertical that includes climate impact assessment and reporting for early-stage climate tech businesses, ecosystem engagement, and program design and assisting Impact Lead in business development and expanding the impact vertical.

  • You should have at least 8-10 years of relevant experience 

  • You can be located anywhere in India, as the position is remote. We also have an upcoming project in Chennai, so if your base location is Chennai, that would be a bonus. 

  • However, travel is required for attending events/ business meetings and mandatory company retreats (every 4-6 months) 

 Required 

  • Work with early-stage climate tech startups to design and develop user-friendly impact measurement toolkits for their business models that can enable them to easily measure and report climate impact to stakeholders like investors and clients 
  • Build tailored impact assessment frameworks that enable investors and entrepreneur support organizations to track and enhance the performance of their climate tech portfolios 
  • Apply carbon accounting and LCA methodologies (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, SimaPro, OpenLCA, to name a few) to model and track climate impacts for climate tech startups 
  • Support startups in collecting, interpreting, and communicating impact data to investors, funders, clients, and ecosystem partners 
  • Ability to conduct primary and secondary research on globally recognized impact assessment frameworks, tools, and methodologies and analyze the relevance and adaptability of these frameworks to cater to the needs of startups, investors and other ecosystem stakeholders. 
  • Develop and manage MEL frameworks to assess programmatic outcomes as well as and portfolio-level outcomes of Climate Collective 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain cross-functional coordination and collaboration between internal team, external funders and project stakeholders 
  • Excellent skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and a general appreciation for systems and productivity tools (we use Click Up, Slack and a few others)  

Not mandatory, but good to have  

  • Prior knowledge and experience of working with startups 
  • Strong managerial capabilities and the confidence to step into a leadership position would be a bonus for this role 
  • Most importantly (and especially since we're a distributed team), we like people who are entrepreneurial, and intrinsically motivated about working with climate tech startups 

Educational Qualifications  

Required: 

A master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as: 
  • Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering/ Sustainability / Climate Science 
  • Public Policy / Development Studies 
  • Data Science / Statistics / Economics 
  • Business Administration (with focus on Sustainability, Impact, or ESG)  

Preferred:​

Prior work experience/ certifications/ trainings in: 
  • Impact measurement frameworks (e.g., IRIS+, SDG Impact, Theory of Change) 
  • LCA tools (e.g., SimaPro, OpenLCA etc) 
  • Carbon accounting standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064) 
  • MEL methodologies or evaluation tools 
  • Data analytics (e.g., courses in Python, Power BI, or R)
