About the job:

We are looking for an Employee Relations and Legal Compliance Manager to join our Human Resources team. In this role, you will work to ensure that transparent practices are in place and relevant laws in terms of policies, compliance, exit interviews, grievances, conflicts, problem resolution. We need someone who can build the entire function from scratch, handle the big decisions, and sweat the small stuff when it counts. If you’ve got experience in navigating the legal, the complex, and the downright tricky parts of HR, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build the Function: You’re not walking into an established team. You’ll be building this from the ground up. Policies, processes, frameworks—it's all yours to create.
  • Own Employee Relations: Lead the charge on everything employee relations. From managing escalations to designing the strategy, you’ll be in the thick of it all.
  • Master of Immigration: Global workforce mobility is critical for us. You’ll handle visas, work permits, and make sure we’re always on the right side of the law.
  • Risk Mitigator: You’ll be the one to spot potential legal and compliance risks and figure out how to navigate them without slowing us down.
  • Problem Solver: When conflicts come up, you’ll be the one making sure we handle things fairly, consistently, and fast.
  • Performance Management: Own the delivery of annual processes including performance, talent, merit and bonus.

Skills and responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement global employee relations frameworks, processes, and best practices that align with organizational values, goals, and people strategies.
  • Lead and oversee the management of complex employee relations cases across the organization, ensuring timely and effective resolution in a thoughtful manner.
  • ER Consultant: Internal legal consultant on labour issues and responsible for timely information to relevant stakeholders on employee relations matters on a broad range on labor relations topics, including grievances, investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Develop strong relationships with employers and counsel to build processes that ensure that all employee relations cases are handled in compliance with relevant local labor laws and regulations and applicable policies.
  • Develop and deliver employee relations training programs for the HR Department, managers, and staff on topics such as workplace investigations, and labor law compliance, consistent with our internal policies.
  • Build manager capabilities to support effective employee relations and employee engagement to drive a positive and productive work environment through workshops, training, and educational materials.
  • Establish and maintain systems and up to date information for tracking and reporting on ER metrics, trends, and outcomes.
  • Provide regular reports with data-informed insights on key employee relations trends, risks, and dynamics internal and external to the Foundation
  • Maintaining documentation and preparing reports as required to ensure compliance and support the effective conclusion of employee relations issues.



Requirements

  • 6 - 8 years´ experience managing end to end employee relations case management including very sensitive and highly complex cases.
  • Your CV should demonstrate hands-on experience with Angola labor law and exposure to a broad range of HR initiatives and employee / industrial relations issues.
  • Excellent technical HR/employment law knowledge and practical application.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues in a refreshingly straightforward way
  • Ability to initiate open and candid conversations at all levels.
  • Move easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant details.
  • Uphold the code of ethics and business conduct.

  • Must have fluency in Portuguese and English (Spoken & Written).
