Position Summary Blue Sky is seeking a security professional to help safeguard military health systems by engineering secure, compliant infrastructures and maintaining robust vulnerability management operations. As a System Security Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in applying technical security controls, evaluating system configurations, and supporting infrastructure hardening efforts aligned with NIST 800-171 and other federal cybersecurity standards.
Key Responsibilities
Configure, apply, and maintain DoD-mandated security baselines and patches across servers and systems.
Implement and test technical controls as part of assessment and authorization activities.
Perform vulnerability assessments and remediation planning using tools such as ACAS, Nessus, and SCC.
Monitor system security posture and identify areas for improvement in hardening and compliance.
Support audit readiness by generating and maintaining control evidence and contributing to SSP, SAR, and POA&M documentation.
Assist with developing infrastructure diagrams and documentation to support security architecture reviews.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related discipline.
5+ years of experience in system security engineering in a DoD or federal environment.
Demonstrated experience with security hardening of Linux and Windows systems.
Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, DISA security tools, and secure system design.
Preferred certifications: Security+, CISSP, or equivalent.
