Description
The Director, Business Development will have the principal responsibility for leading the sales efforts in a region of the United States. This is a unique opportunity to join an organization with a long history of creating value and an experienced team who work together to deliver client results.

We are currently looking to fill a role within the Valuations Division. The Director, Business Development, reporting to the Senior Managing Director, North American Sales. The Director, Business Development will have the principal responsibility for leading the sales efforts in a region of the United States. This is a unique opportunity to join an organization with a long history of creating value and an experienced team who work together to deliver client results. The Director, Business Development will utilize his/her network of relationships within the asset based lending and/or private equity communities, the Director, Business Development will market the division’s appraisal and valuation services to expand their market share and enhance its image in the marketplace. Additionally, the Director, Business Development will identify potential opportunities for the other Gordon Brothers Group business units. The Director, Business Development  be involved in the initial identification and sale of the appraisal/valuation opportunity, will facilitate both directly and indirectly sharing relevant sector and market information, will maintain client contact throughout the transaction life cycle and will be involved in the delivery of the final appraisal product.

In this role, you will:

  • Developing and/or maintaining access to and relationships with individuals in the asset based lending and private equity community as well as related professionals (attorneys, accountants, consultants, etc.) within the designated geographic region
  • Engaging other Gordon Brothers Group professionals, as needed, in order to provide existing/potential clients with the most appropriate industry/market knowledge and experience
  • Attending regional (and certain national) association (CFA, TMA, ACG, etc.) conferences and seminars on behalf of Gordon Brothers Group
  • Meeting with existing/potential clients for both business day activities (breakfasts, lunches, etc.) as well as “after hour” events (dinners, ball games, concerts, etc.)
  • Keeping apprised of relevant financing and liquidation transactions
  • Maintaining accurate and timely client information in central systems including client histories, transaction histories, pipeline, meetings/calendar, etc.
  • Managing T&E to an annual budget

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major concentration in English or Journalism strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree and ten plus years of experience in asset based lending, appraisal and valuation and/or private equity sector strong preferred.
  • The role requires exceptional sales, presentation, communication (both written and oral), and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to influence others and work collaboratively to solve business problems. 
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail, time management, organizational skills, and knowledge of MS Office.
  • Travel as needed up to 75%.
  • We may consider candidates with five or more of years of experience and a deep understanding of the appraisal product, as well as some key relationships within the ABL community.
