Job description

Be Part of Bringing Danish Energy Innovation to the U.S.
NISSEN Energy, a leading Danish supplier of clean energy solutions, is looking for a Field Service Technician as they support their continued US expansion, specifically in the Midwest. This is a unique opportunity to join a company where your technical skills, independent mindset, and customer-first approach will be valued from day one.

The position is crucial to the continued growth of the company, and the ideal candidate will be self-driven and have experience performing service and maintenance on gas engines and related mechanical systems. To be successful in the role, you must have strong problem-solving skills and thrive in a customer-facing environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform service and maintenance on gas engines, RNG plants, and related mechanical systems
  • Troubleshoot engine systems, RNG plants, burner installations, and control/electrical systems
  • Support project commissioning and get hands-on experience by joining early-stage design/build meetings
  • Read and interpret process diagrams (water, gas, and electrical)
  • Work on-site at customer locations in the Midwest
  • Manage your service vehicle and start most workdays from your home
  • Report carried out work back to HQ through our fully integrated digital platform.
  • Manage the warehouse and inventory
  • Have the interest and ability to engage in commercial conversations with customers
  • Travel within the U.S. and occasionally internationally (approx. 30–60 days/year)

What You Bring:

  • Solid mechanical experience with engines— perhaps as an agricultural machinery technician, field technician, or industrial service engineer
  • Some electrical and software knowledge is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working independently in the field
  • Previous customer-facing service experience
  • Familiarity with using digital tools for service documentation and reporting
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when needed, with flexibility offered in return

Why Join NISSEN Energy?

  • You will play a key role in building the U.S. operation from the ground up
  • Flat organizational structure, open communication, and a strong Danish team culture
  • You will get training, mentorship, and support from HQ in Denmark
  • They invest in their people through education, hands-on experience, and trust

Onboarding
As a new Service Technician, you will start with a thorough introduction to NISSEN Energy’s customers, tasks, and product portfolio. After a few months in the role, you will be fully equipped to independently perform service checks on gas engines and other products in the company’s portfolio.

Location: Remote, Chicago area IL
Start date: As soon as possible
Compensation: Competitive compensation and benefits package
Travel: 70-85%
