About the Role

Otto Aviation is seeking an Engineer I, Non-Metallic Materials and Processes to be a member of our team.  The ideal candidate has an interest in materials and processes and a willingness to learn.  You will join a team developing the world’s most efficient aircraft.  Otto Aviation is seeking engineers, who are comfortable working from first principles, work great in a team atmosphere and get things done. 

What You'll Do

  • Provide guidance on matters relating to non-metallic materials and process to the Design and Manufacturing teams during product development and operation. 
  • Provide guidance to the Stress team regarding non-metallic properties and allowables. 
  • Support development and evaluate new and improved materials and processes methods. 
  • Author materials and process specifications, test plans and reports. 
  • Support multi-disciplinary configuration development and trade studies. 
  • Review engineering definition for release in the product lifecycle system (PLM). 

Who You Are

  • B.S. in Material Science, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent 
  • 0-2 years of relevant industry experience 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Knowledge of materials and processes for non-metallic (required) and metallic (a plus) materials. 
  • Knowledge of non-metallic materials and processing of polymer matrix composites and structural bonding utilizing epoxy resin-based materials with carbon and glass fiber reinforcements

Where You'll Be

Otto Aviation is currently a remote workplace culture, with plans to secure a permanent headquarters for our corporate office in the next 2-3 years. 

This position is a remote job that can be worked anywhere in the United States.
