Job description

SEO Director (Remote – US-based)

Fulcrum | Remote (United States)

We’re the people partner for a consulting-led digital agency with a history of driving growth for some of the world’s most respected brands. We’re helping them find a commercially-minded, independent SEO Director — someone who’s strong on delivery, confident with clients, and ready to take ownership of a growing US portfolio.

Why this role?

This isn’t just an SEO gig. It’s a unique opportunity to lead client relationships and shape the agency’s US footprint, while staying hands-on in technical and strategic SEO. You’ll take full ownership of key accounts, deliver complex solutions, and become the go-to for clients ranging from fast-growing startups to global brands.

You’ll join an agency that blends strategic consulting with executional firepower — and a leadership team that actually backs you to do your job.

You’ll be expected to:

  • Lead and grow client relationships — not just deliverables

  • Join the dots across SEO, Paid Media, and Analytics to ensure cohesive service

  • Manage and mentor talent as the team expands

  • Handle budgets, forecasting, and internal project management

  • Jump in with technical SEO know-how when needed (but not do it all yourself)

What you’ll be doing:
  • Acting as the most senior client contact on SEO accounts — owning strategy, delivery, and communication

  • Partnering with delivery teams across SEO, Paid, PR, and Analytics to drive performance

  • Managing internal admin: forecasts, quotes, resourcing, budgets, and internal finance systems

  • Working with the SEO Manager in LA and supporting their development

  • Leading weekly and monthly reporting, reviews, and QBRs

  • Spotting opportunities to grow accounts or win new business

  • Collaborating on US growth strategy, including helping with occasional pitches and proposals

What we’re looking for:

You’ve led SEO campaigns at an agency. You know how to win the room, calm the storm, and keep clients aligned. You’re confident managing teams and delivery, but don’t need hand-holding when it comes to execution or expectations. You’ll stand out if you:

  • Have 5–7 years of SEO experience, including time in agency environments

  • Can handle enterprise-level clients and complex briefs

  • Are confident in technical SEO, but don’t rely solely on it

  • Have strong project management skills — you get things done

  • Can operate independently and manage clients remotely, with minimal oversight

  • Are excited to help build the US presence from the ground up

This role is for you if:
  • You’re the steady hand in high-pressure situations — calm, reliable, unflappable

  • You love variety and enjoy working across teams and time zones

  • You want to take the lead on US clients and play a central role in scaling a global agency

  • You’re looking for a remote-first role with ownership, influence, and autonomy

Not for you if:
  • You need a big team around you to function

  • You prefer narrow, technical-only roles with no client exposure

  • You struggle with time zone flexibility or managing remote work independently

What’s in it for you:
  • Fully remote, US-based role with flexible hours (min. 2–3 hr overlap with Sydney, Australia)

  • Work with a high-performing global team across SEO, Paid, PR, and Strategy

  • Competitive salary (USD benchmark depending on location)

  • Exposure to top-tier international clients and business-building opportunities

  • A chance to lead and shape the US arm of a growing global agency
