Job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented OSP Engineer I to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with foundational experience or education in AutoCAD, GIS, or similar tools, and a strong interest in building a career in outside plant engineering.

As an OSP Engineer I, you will support the design and development of fiber optic network infrastructure. Responsibilities include assisting with network planning and design, conducting field surveys, collaborating with internal teams and contractors, helping troubleshoot network issues, and maintaining accurate documentation of infrastructure and equipment. This is a great opportunity to grow within a dynamic and fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and design fiber optic networks, including the selection of appropriate cable types, sizes, and routing;
  • Develop and optimize OSP network layouts for fiber optic cabling systems;
  • Conduct site surveys to determine the best locations for cable placement and equipment;
  • Identify potential conflicts with existing utilities and report any roadblocks to the design team;
  • Research and verify addresses for network planning;
  • Identify design violations and propose alternative routing solutions;
  • Track project progress and ensure timely task completion;
  • Work closely with the permitting team to ensure designs meet all permitting requirements;
  • Communicate effectively with teams to support seamless project execution.

Requirements

  • Proven knowledge of FTTH, FTTP architecture, components, best practices and design of fiber optic network systems;
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in designing and implementing fiber optic networks;
  • Proven knowledge of Comsof, IQGeo, AutoDesign, ARMIS, ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, and other engineering-related software;
  • Knowledge of industry NESC, NEC standards, and regulations related to fiber optic networks.
