Essential Job Functions
Handles day-to-day service requests related to mainframe system operations and automation.
Performs mid-level troubleshooting to resolve technical issues in the mainframe environment.
Plans and executes customization tasks required for software upgrades and patches.
Supports and implements virtual and physical console design models.
Participates in operating system upgrades and related migration efforts.
Contributes to Business Continuity Planning and testing activities.
Converts existing automation environments to strategic tools and platforms.
Assists team members with code development, project execution, and advanced troubleshooting.
Provides support for audits and security-related remediation in the automation environment.
Collaborates with global teams to identify and apply best-in-class automation practices.
Tracks industry trends to anticipate impacts on automation strategies and leads related transitions.
Develops automation code to support the planning and execution of software upgrades.
Writes and maintains strategic automation code to enhance efficiency and consistency.
Leads team efforts on complex projects, including internal initiatives and new business migrations.
Performs migrations for new business or internal workload reallocations.
Supports enterprise-level monitoring tools including CA-Sysview, CA-OPS/MVS, CA-Automation Point, IBM-SA, and IBM-IOM.
Utilizes Microsoft SharePoint for documentation and team collaboration.
Participates in 24x7 on-call support rotation as part of team coverage.
Technical Expertise
Experience with z/OS system programming and automation tools.
Skilled in developing and customizing mainframe automation code.
Familiarity with enterprise monitoring tools such as CA-Sysview, CA-OPS/MVS, and IBM SA/IOM.
Understanding of virtual console design principles and implementation.
Experience planning and supporting operating system upgrades and software migrations.
Other Qualifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in mainframe environments.
Effective collaboration skills and the ability to lead and mentor team members.
Knowledge of industry trends and ability to translate into actionable automation initiatives.
Familiarity with audit and compliance standards related to mainframe systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint for documentation and coordination.
Ability to manage concurrent responsibilities and work effectively in a remote team setting.
