Core Duties

Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, the Senior Research Engineer will turn innovative ideas into practical, production-ready solutions. In this role, you will perform rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept development while simultaneously exploring cutting-edge research that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible. You will blend strong software engineering fundamentals with advanced research skills to tackle complex problems, creating solutions that directly impact product and business objectives.

Core Duties by Competency:

Knows the Business

• Utilize cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) for hosting, deployment, and scaling of applications.
• Conduct experimental research to validate novel algorithms, methodologies, and machine learning frameworks.
• Ideate, design, and develop POCs to determine feasibility, explore new capabilities, and mitigate technical risks.

Leads Others

• Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and robust software systems from ideation to production.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, QA, etc.) to align on deliverables, timelines, and technical requirements.
• Work with machine learning frameworks (e.g., Keras, PyTorch) to build and train models tailored to insurance and other domain-specific applications.

Accountable

• Integrate machine learning components into end-to-end solutions, ensuring performance, stability, scalability, and reliability in the production environment.
• Integrate AI models into production pipelines, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends, tools, and techniques in AI/ML, and evaluate their applicability to relevant business challenges.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in Python, JavaScript, or Java.

Team Player

• Translate complex technical concepts into actionable information for non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Product teams to gather requirements, evaluate prototypes, and iterate quickly based on feedback.
• Other duties assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Development, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in software engineering, with a track record of delivering production-quality systems.
• Extensive experience conducting research and rapidly prototyping solutions.
• Strong experience using GenAI for research and development.
• Strong background in system design, data structures, and software architecture.
• Solid programming skills in Python, JavaScript, or Java.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern DevOps practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good understanding of probability, statistics, and algorithms for machine learning.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., Keras, PyTorch) and building AI solutions.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Innovative mindset with a passion for continuous learning and experimentation.
