The AvaTax for Communications engineering team is looking for software engineers to join us in building cutting-edge, cloud-based SaaS solutions. This role is critical to delivering real-time tax calculations for the communications industry, helping businesses stay compliant while enhancing customer satisfaction.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

• Expansion of our .NET Core web application using the latest AWS technologies to provide a secure and best in class user experience for our customers
• Performance tuning and streamlining processes with focus on through-put and reliability
• Designing, expanding, and maintaining scalable reporting systems which manage millions of monthly data records
• Production support, including a shared on-call rotation (typically a 1-week rotation per team member every month or so) in collaboration with our global support team and well-established escalation procedures
• Stay abreast in new technologies including AWS, .NET & database systems
• Be introspective, always trying to improve yourself and the team around you
• Leverage AI copilots, code generation tools, and assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AmazonQ, ChatGPT) to improve coding efficiency, testing, documentation, and prototyping.
• Continuously upskill in AI-related technologies applicable to daily work.
  
  

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science plus at least 5 years' experience in software engineering
• Experience creating and maintaining REST APIs in a C# codebase (or similar language)
• Proficiency with querying and modifying schemas for relational databases such as MSSQL and experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB
• CI/CD experience using automation tools such as Gitlab pipelines, GitHub Actions, etc.
• Docker, AWS - S3, RDS, EC2, Lambda, Aurora Postgres
• Understanding of security protocols and best practices
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with batch processing (ETL workloads), message queuing systems (such as Kafka, RabbitMQ) and big data warehousing (Snowflake, Mongo, Aurora)
• Experience interacting with customers and providing technical support for SaaS products
• Experience with the communications/telecom industry with a focus on taxation
• Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript frameworks such as React
• Experience with C and/or C++
