The Ad Strategist handles ad campaigns from beginning to end, and well as plays a key role in improving day-to-day operations and processes. The Ad Strategist assembles strategic insights and stays on top of emerging trends and changes in the digital landscape in order to recommend tactics to internal teams. It is important for the ad strategist to effectively communicate & educate interdepartmentally, as they are the point of contact for client services and sales regarding paid social ad performance.
From organizing assets to writing engaging copy to daily optimization, the Ad Strategist is responsible for meeting all client deliverables for paid campaigns. They should be comfortable handling projects from start to finish, as well as presenting campaign results to a group. Duties will include the planning, creation, and management of client ad campaigns. Strong communication skills and an attention to detail are required as they work closely with Client Services teams to ensure deliverables are met.
Operational / Strategic Details:
Own a portfolio of social ad campaigns
Set up and launch social ad campaigns on various platforms (Google Ad Manager, Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, etc.) including writing engaging copy, uploading creative assets, managing budgets, and ensuring ads link to correct destination
Installs relevant campaign and/or client tracking via pixel implementation
Optimize campaigns based on client KPIs and internal metrics
Monitor pacing and optimize live ads based on client expectations to ensure full delivery while protecting margin
Audit campaign setups to ensure top tier quality
Set up and manage campaign metric reports for internal teams
Answers questions related to campaign delivery, creative elements, or media performance for internal teams
Assists with new ad product testing
Provides strategic ideas to Manager, Media Ops regarding possible tests or process improvements
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or an analytical or quantitative discipline or relevant experience preferred
1-3 years of progressive experience within a marketing or advertising technology firm
Prior experience at an advertising or media agency is preferred
Knowledge of major ad platforms, including Meta Ads Manager and/or GDN is preferred but not required
Knowledge of social channels including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, TikTok, etc.
Familiar with analytics and tracking tools, such as Excel, Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager
Understanding of digital campaign metrics such as conversions, pacing, impressions, CPA, Site views, CTR, viewability
