Job description

nDreams Studio Elevation is re-establishing the boundaries of VR. We’re looking for an exceptionally talented Audio Designer to help us explore, create, and deliver world-leading innovation in software and VR hardware. With our first title nearing release and a second in early planning stages, it’s a great time to join our fully remote, VR-first studio.  

As an Audio Designer, you will be owning and driving the ideation, iteration, and development of a level. In this exciting and critical role, you will collaborate closely with Creative and Design Directors to help develop best in class VR games. 

 

The rundown:  

  • 12 month fixed term contract  
  • Full time (37.5 hours per week)  
  • Fully remote within the UK 
  • Salary is competitive and dependent on experience 

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Creating high quality audio assets and systems. 
  • Implementing audio via middleware like Audiokinetic Wwise, FMod and/or Unreal Engine 4/5 and blueprints. 
  • Collaborating with other disciplines to ensure audio is incorporated into all aspects of gameplay and enhances game experience. 
  • Work closely with members of the audio team. 
  • Working with the project’s audio point person, and project producers to spec out deliverables, locate dependencies, maintain documentation, and keep tasks within scope. 
  • Where required and supported by the audio lead, taking responsibility for a large part of how that game should sound. 
  • Documenting asset lists and audio features. 
  • Being a positive advocate and representative for the audio team within the studio and externally. 

Requirements

The skills you’ll need:  

  • Proven experience in audio design, implementation, and mixing abilities for games. 
  • Understanding of the game audio workflow and how it interacts with other disciplines. 
  • Good communication skills with a proactive approach.  
  • Experience with Unreal Engine and Blueprints. 
  • Experience with Audio Middleware 
  • An understanding of common DAWs and Plugins (Reaper is a plus). 
  • Experience with source control software, such as P4V. 

 

The nice to haves:  

  • Degree/Qualification in Audio or related field. 
  • 2+ years in a Games Sound Design role, preferably VR or spatial audio as a bonus.   
  • Able to work to differing feature sets and requirements between different consoles and formats.
