Cloud Engineer – Security

The Cloud Engineer - Security role is responsible for managing and maintaining cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring security, optimal performance, and scalability. In addition, this role will have a particular focus on security operations and projects including cloud operations governance and compliance to Edmentum policies, industry/compliance standards, customer expectations, threat intelligence, and applicable legislation.

This role will accept work direction from the Manager of Cloud Operations and Information Security Senior Manager for hands on work.

 WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Cloud infrastructure management: design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure, ensuring optimal security, performance, and scalability.
• Information Security operations: collaborate with systems administration, network operations, and cloud operations to integrate security into all aspects of the business.
• Leverage expertise in Microsoft and AWS technologies to secure cloud services within our IT ecosystem.
• Identify and mitigate vulnerabilities to maintain the security and integrity of cloud services.
• Advise and assist in the implementation of comprehensive information security policies and procedures across cloud environments.
• Secure our cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. Leverage tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of cloud resources.
• Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and daily operations of cloud-based systems.
• Collaborate in continuous improvement of the service delivery processes including change management, configuration management, vulnerability management, metrics, and root cause analysis.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies and techniques to best serve our customers.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and best practices (i.e., SOC, GDPR, FERPA).
• Collaborate with development, deployment, maintenance, and enforcement of information security to safeguard data assets and ensure data privacy including on call response to security and availability incidents.

 WHAT IS REQUIRED

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors’ Degree in Technology related field or equivalent work experience. MBA or other business experience a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in cloud operations or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and security best practices and standards.
• Experience in a Software as a Service product company highly preferred.
• Experience in K-12 education highly preferred.
• Deep working knowledge of industry, market, and competitive landscape.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

• Diverse technical expertise in Information Technology, Information Security, and networking.
• Experience with risk assessment, audit, and IT security assessments.
• AWS, Microsoft, CISA, CISSP, PMP, or other relevant professional designations preferred.
• Familiar with compliance regulations, IT, security frameworks, and standards (i.e. NIST 800, ISO/IEC 27002, IEC 62443, HIPAA, PCI, SOX, HITRUST).
• Possesses proficiencies with the use of risk and control frameworks, and process improvement frameworks (e.g. COBIT, COSO, ITIL, NIST, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, CMMI).
• Familiarity with Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process (Waterfall & Agile).
• Comprehensive analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, collaborating with internal business clients from different departments and at various levels of seniority.
• Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
