We're seeking a talented Senior Lighting Artist to carry high quality real-time lighting of environments. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of lighting principals with a strong technical aptitude working in Unreal Engine and 3DS Max. In return, you will be part of an experienced, creative, and supportive team working on various AAA titles!

Some of the cool stuff you'll be doing:

  • Handle lighting of environment spaces through from pre-production to final polish 
  • Help to manage and ensure the integrity of lighting on all assets 
  • Capably troubleshoot and solve lighting production issues 
  • Strive to maximize art production performance and predictability 
  • Stays current on industry trends and techniques, evaluating competitive products, and continually learning new software packages. 

Requirements

What you'll bring to the table:

  • A strong portfolio with recent work demonstrating expert use of light, color, value, and composition to enhance gameplay, mood, and visual storytelling in real-time environments.  (**must submit to be considered**)
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Lighting Artist or portfolio exhibiting equivalent skills
  • Experienced working on video games in a professional setting with at least one shipped AAA title
  • Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5 including lighting works, blueprint systems and time of day system.
  • Expertise in tools such as 3DS Max, lighting-specific software in both real-time and offline engines
  • Strong technical aptitude in areas such as HDR, physically-based rendering (PBR), color grading, post-processing effects, tonemapping workflows, EV values, LUTs, and color spaces (linear vs log2).

While this is a fully remote contract position, at this time, we are only consider applicants that reside in Ottawa, Canada.
