Position Summary:
Responsible for market guidance, risk management services, oil contract management, and commodity margin guidance for assigned accounts. The role will serve as an additional resource to our sales teams, with the goal to enhance our relationships with assigned customers and company margins on contracted business across Ventura's Commercial Organization.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partner with assigned Ventura Commercial Team members providing the Ventura Foods market direction and call to action and risk management services to their respective customers. Provide support for the following sales teams: National Accounts, Chain Accounts, Field Foodservice, Retail, Ingredients, Specialty Channels and International.
- Collaborate with Oil Trading Department for booking futures contracts, buying basis, and executing risk management strategies including options contracts for assigned accounts. Comply with all Oil Trading contracting requirements. Manage transactions and regularly communicate contract positions and risk management program details to both internal and external stakeholders and leveraging Velocity (Salesforce) where appropriate. Ensure the Velocity contract best practices are utilizing the tools available.
- Assist the Director and VP, Oil Risk Management & Market Solutions providing the Ventura Foods market directions for the activities of the Oil Market Solutions, Chain Accounts in support of risk and contract activities for assigned chain accounts.
- Maintain deep knowledge of current commodity market dynamics and risk management strategies in order to effectively advise customers AND internal Ventura Foods teams. Create supporting documents or presentations for the commercial team and publishing market relevant details in Velocity.
- Collaborate with Product Management Team and Sales lead to enhance Variable Margin on contracted commodity business. Actively manage those contracts to incorporate cost rolls and other incremental pricing changes. Proactively manage all contracts to ensure timely depletion and suspension, and pass along any necessary carrying charges.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Sales Team to establish margin benchmarks by product platform and market. Develop pricing strategy for commodity products given the size and scope of the opportunity in relationship to our base business and other opportunities.
- Develop with the Director and VP, Oil Risk Management team a tiered Risk Management program portfolio for potential new risk (existing) management customers.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in agricultural commodity futures & options trading or energy trading
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Experience working with foodservice chain accounts and/or distributors highly preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Expertise in vegetable oil markets for soy, canola, palm, corn, cotton, & peanut.
- Expertise in vegetable oil refining processes and technical attributes of various refined and crude oils.
- Knowledge should include understanding of world oil markets - primarily palm, coconut, and European and Canadian Rapeseed oil and South American soy oils.
- BioFuels knowledge is a benefit.
- Must have a working knowledge of CME (futures, options, CME and Cash Markets).
- Must have strong presentation skills, and be very detail oriented to effectively manage the oil contracting process..
