Job description

Senior Growth Strategist

Location: Remote (U.S.-based)
Compensation: Competitive salary + bonus potential
Type: Full-Time

This is the role for someone who’s outgrown marketing buzzwords and wants to do real work that drives revenue.

At McGaw.io, we don’t waste time on awareness campaigns or brand fluff. We work with marketing, product, and revenue leaders to build high-conversion funnels, optimize tech stacks, and personalize the customer experience—so their teams hit their revenue goals faster.

As a Senior Growth Strategist, you'll work directly with our clients as their go-to expert for lifecycle marketing strategy, conversion rate optimization (CRO), and tech-enabled personalization. You’ll define the strategy, work alongside technical teammates to execute, and own the outcomes.

If you’ve got deep marketing chops, sharp business instincts, and a passion for using tools like Segment, Braze, Amplitude, and HubSpot to drive results—this role is built for you.

Mission of the Role

To lead client growth strategy and identify conversion and lifecycle marketing opportunities that generate measurable revenue. You will drive results through sharp insights, client partnership, and tight collaboration with McGaw’s technical and analytics experts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead discovery with clients to understand their funnel, revenue drivers, and conversion blockers

  • Build strategic roadmaps that increase revenue through lifecycle marketing, CRO, and personalization

  • Analyze funnel data and behavior analytics to uncover optimization opportunities

  • Define and measure success metrics using tools like Amplitude, GA4, HubSpot, or Mixpanel

  • Collaborate with technical teammates to execute Segment CDP implementations, audience building, and lifecycle journeys

  • Serve as a primary point-of-contact for client strategy, insights, and performance reviews

  • Write and present growth reports and data-driven recommendations with confidence and clarity

  • Scope and estimate new projects and change requests to ensure profitability and alignment with business goals

  • Manage resource planning and stay within scope, while still identifying new upsell opportunities

  • Deliver world-class client communication, clarity, and leadership

What Success Looks Like
  • Clients see measurable revenue growth and attribute it to the work you led

  • 6-month strategic roadmap is built and followed for all owned clients

  • 90% of client objectives are completed on time and on budget

  • Clients invite us to run case studies or video testimonials within 6 months

  • 80%+ of clients renew or expand their contracts based on strategic value delivered

  • You maintain a 3.0+ labor efficiency ratio on all managed accounts by Day 90

  • Scope creep is managed proactively—new work gets scoped and sold

Must-Have Experience
  • 10+ years in digital marketing or growth-focused roles (agency, consulting, or startup preferred)

  • Strong expertise in CRO, lifecycle marketing, and funnel optimization

  • Hands-on experience with Customer Data Platforms (Segment strongly preferred), journey orchestration tools (Braze, Iterable, etc.), and web personalization

  • Deep understanding of marketing analytics and experimentation

  • Strong communication and client-facing skills—you can explain the “why” as well as the “what”

  • Track record of owning outcomes and improving revenue through strategy

  • Proven ability to work independently, manage client relationships, and deliver results without handholding

  • Experience working at a company with <100 people and one with >200 people

Disqualifiers (Please Do Not Apply If…)
  • You’ve never worked in an agency or consultancy environment

  • You only have enterprise experience

  • You’ve never built a strategic growth plan or owned client outcomes

  • You’re not fluent in lifecycle marketing, analytics tools, and CDPs

  • You haven’t posted or engaged on LinkedIn in the last 3 months

  • You’re looking to manage a team rather than own client relationships directly

Job Description

This role is built for a senior marketer who’s done the work, made the mistakes, and knows how to move the needle on revenue. At McGaw, you’re not going to spend your time planning “brand awareness campaigns” or tweaking headlines for A/B tests that don’t matter. This is about helping real businesses fix the messy middle and bottom of their funnel—using strategy, personalization, analytics, and a little bit of grit.

As the Senior Growth Strategist, you’ll be the lead consultant on a small portfolio of growth-focused client accounts. You’ll build the roadmap, work with our technical team to implement it, and own the outcomes. We’re talking deep funnel work—lifecycle journeys, audience segmentation, personalization logic, and conversion systems that actually close deals or drive expansion.

You’ll partner with marketing leaders, founders, and VPs who are leaning on us to help them grow. That means you’ll need to listen well, ask sharp questions, and then give confident direction that ties everything back to revenue. You’ll do the strategy, work with our analytics and engineering team to implement, and present the results. When something breaks, you’ll explain what happened and how to fix it. When something wins, you’ll help the client understand why—and what to do next.

This is a client-facing role. You’ll have full autonomy to lead accounts like an owner, while collaborating tightly with a team that actually knows how to execute. You’ll meet with clients weekly, run strategic reviews monthly, and deliver measurable outcomes every month. If you’ve been in the room before and led this kind of work, you’ll thrive here.

In your first 30 days, you’ll shadow our existing team, learn the McGaw operating system, and get up to speed on how we run delivery. You’ll be paired with our other leaders on the team to learn the clients, see how we scope projects, and understand how we think through growth systems.

By your second month, you’ll take ownership of two to three client accounts. You’ll start running strategy calls, drafting roadmaps, and pushing ideas that will actually drive outcomes. Your job will be to help our clients build more efficient growth engines, and you’ll be supported by a team of engineers, analysts, and project leads to bring it to life.

By day 90, we’ll be expecting results. You’ll be measured by client retention, revenue expansion, labor efficiency, and client satisfaction. You’ll be expected to run your accounts independently, manage scope effectively, and turn insights into action. And if you’re doing it right, your clients will be inviting us to run case studies and bragging about the work you led.

This isn’t a stepping stone role. It’s a strategic seat on a team that solves hard problems and actually gives a damn about getting it right. If you’re tired of doing “campaigns” and ready to build systems that compound, apply now.
