EverHealth, a division of EverCommerce, is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our Updox engineering teams focused on our core communications platform delivering telehealth, fax, sms and more via integrated workflows serving the healthcare space. In this role, you will be leading a group with multiple engineering teams including software delivery and QA, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement while overseeing the design, development, and delivery of high-quality healthcare technology products and services.
The EverHealth vertical of EverCommerce provides products and services to healthcare professionals nationwide and includes a range of market-leading products like CollaborateMD, eProvider Solutions, Updox, AlertMD, MD Tech, AllMeds, iSalus Healthcare, and DrChrono.
Responsibilities:
- Define and implement technical strategies and roadmaps in alignment with the company's objectives.
- Lead multiple engineering teams including QA and software delivery, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement – via oversight, partnership and fostering of managers of those teams
- Oversee the design, development, and delivery of high-quality healthcare technology solutions.
- Lead rollout of AI technologies both into operational usage of the engineering teams and utilization in product via enhanced production functionality offerings
- Collaborate with product management, design, and other stakeholders to ensure successful product releases.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and deployment, and maintaining high standards of software quality.
- Mentor and develop team members, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate into the organization's practices.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration within the engineering team and across departments to achieve business goals.
- Drive the resolution of technical challenges and lead efforts to improve engineering processes.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for your engineering teams.
- Lead with resilience and adaptability, navigating uncertainty and ambiguity to drive success.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and address security concerns throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Partner with external stakeholders such as technical leaders of critical third parties such as EHR partners and prospects – understanding their needs of feature and implementation of Updox services
- Partner with Customer Success and Support groups to collect and analyze customer feedback to inform product improvements.
Skills and Experience needed for success in this role:
The ideal candidate will have a background in Healthcare technology, with experiencing working on systems with a growth-stage company and personal characteristics that complement the team.
- Experience in the Healthcare IT space is a must for this role
- 5+ years experience managing a healthcare solution
- Experience with EMR/EHR datamodels and other industry specifications including:
- HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, SNOMED CT, CPT Codes, EDI
- Experience understanding HIPAA compliance and information/security requirements
- 10+ years in software development at increasing levels of scope and leadership
- 6+ years of experience with full-stack healthcare application development using technologies and languages such as Python, Java, C# / .NET, Ruby, JavaScript, etc; solid understanding of technologies such as REST, HTTP, and JSON, APIs, RDBS and SQL; iOS or Android hybrid application development experience using React, Ionic, or similar
- Deep fluency in software development methodologies and ability to coach/educate others in these methodologies
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams
- Proven track record of working successfully with a professionalized product delivery operation
- A self-starter with a “get it done” attitude, capable of driving projects to completion
- Impeccable integrity and ethical standards
- High energy, participatory style; strong inter-personal skills and the ability to mentor and motivate team members
- Must be comfortable in dynamic work situations within a high-growth portfolio environment
- Strong initiative, keen attention to detail, and complex problem-solving abilities
- BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience required;
Where:
The EverCommerce team is distributed globally, with multiple office locations across the U.S. and Canada. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones. This role can be based anywhere in the United States; if you're near one of our offices and want to work in-office, we can set that up, or this role can be 100% remote. You must be eligible to work in the United States in order to qualify for this role. This role may require periodic travel.

Compensation: The target base compensation for this position is $170,000 to $200,000 USD plus bonus incentives in most locations. Final offer amounts will be determined by a variety of factors, including candidate expertise and location, and may vary from this range.
