Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned and visionary Principal Consultant with deep expertise in smart metering to help expand and manage TYLin’s growing Smart Metering portfolio. This role is central to our Water Solutions strategy and will focus on leading strategic growth initiatives, driving client engagement, and overseeing successful delivery of smart metering programs. With over two decades of industry experience, you will serve as a trusted advisor to utilities and a key contributor to our national water practice.

This is a leadership role requiring technical acumen, business development skill, and proven portfolio management success. You will guide utilities through digital transformation, shape metering strategy, and grow the firm’s presence in this vital sector.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You'll Be Doing:

Grow the Smart Metering Practice: Support the Smart Metering Program Manager in leading business development efforts to expand TYLin’s smart metering portfolio across North America.

Pipeline and Client Development: Identify, pursue, and secure new smart metering engagements by cultivating long-term client relationships and industry partnerships.

Program Leadership: Oversee and direct large-scale smart metering programs, ensuring delivery excellence and alignment with client goals.

Advisory Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert to utilities on metering modernization, data management strategies, and integration with customer and operational platforms.

Mentorship and Team Building: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff while supporting the development of a high-performing Smart Metering team.

Thought Leadership: Represent TYLin at industry events, contribute to publications, and help position the firm as a leader in water utility innovation.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field.
  • 20+ years of experience in water utility services, with a minimum of 10 years focused on smart metering or AMI/AMR programs.
  • Proven success in program and portfolio management, with responsibility for multi-million-dollar smart metering projects.
  • Experience with technologies such as metering systems, customer portals, network communications, and utility data platforms.
  • Strong background in client engagement and proposal development in a consulting environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to executive utility leadership and public stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.
  • Strong commitment to innovation by creating new and better ways to solve clients’ toughest challenges.
  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.
