Job description

Dematic Corporation is now hiring a Regional Field Service Technician. Under the direction of the Field Service Manager, this position provides service and repair and service and maintenance training for installed Dematic systems and equipment. As the Dematic representative in the Customer's facility, this position is heavily responsible for maintaining customer goodwill toward Dematic. The primary objective is to ensure that Dematic systems have the greatest availability possible for customer use and that customers are satisfied with their Dematic system and equipment. This role can be based anywhere throughout North America, preferably by an airport for travel.   Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required. This role will be 100% travel.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $37.00 to $40.00 an hour at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills. 

Tasks and Qualifications:

What You Will Do in This Role:

  • Participate in semi-complex equipment trial runs, investigative tests, repairs, and overhauls.
  • Train customers on semi-complex products and services, ensuring they gain maximum benefit from our solutions.
  • Perform maintenance on tools, test equipment, and detail all inspections, maintenance, repair work, and failures meticulously.
  • Respond to semi-complex service calls and provide timely, effective solutions.
  • Assess the performance of semi-complex products/equipment based on field support data and recommend modifications or improvements.
  • Perform semi-complex tasks within technical or paraprofessional areas with precision.
  • Identify problems as they occur and take appropriate steps to resolve them effectively.
  • Refer sophisticated, unusual problems to senior technicians or other specialists.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Two-year Associate’s degree in a mechanical, electrical, or mechanical technician program or equivalent experience. A Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience solving issues with electromechanical and/or mechanical equipment. Experience with material handling equipment is essential. Service experience with AGVs, AS/RS, or conveyors is highly valued.
  • Willingness to travel on short notice and spend more than 80% of the time traveling, sometimes being away from home for a month.
  • Availability during off-hours and readiness to travel as required.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off shifts.
  • Ability to act calmly in stressful situations.
  • Proficiency in writing concise, clear, and complete trip reports in the required time frame according to Dematic procedures.
  • Knowledge of using personal computers for word processing, database functions, and communications, including hardware setup and software configuration.
  • Experience in fixing Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) is essential.
